G4S: Catastrophic corporate failure..

G4S have now been given the contract to provide housing for asylum seekers.

How's the list of G4S charges looking now? We've got prisoners, refugees, the mentally ill, the disabled and quite possibly inner city schoolkids before long. Everyone our toff masters would dearly love to be rid of. That situation makes me profoundly uncomfortable for some reason.

They have been doing exactly that.

But the basic problem is numbers.

What they should have done is had the recruitment, training and security vetting done at least a month ago. That approach, however, would have required G4S to pay staff an extra months wages to staff for doing 'nothing' (as in they couldn't bill government for it).

The 'just in time' approach to staff recruitment they use maximises profit but the sheer scale of the operation for the Olympics has revealed its flaws and the amateur nature of their operation.

right - makes the fuck up even worse :D

I said this on the other thread but worth saying again

If was head honcho of G4S and I had this big security project that the world was watching - I'd shift all my fully trained staff from other less public projects and get temps in for them, use the fully trained and vetted permanent staff for the big gig - they will get less bad publicity if they have a fuck up somewhere else

but as someone said - they're shit everywhere :D

yet, they are likely to get some of the PIP medical tests contracts..

I'm guessing everyone has already pissed themselves laughing at G4S's corporate song? :D

"You love your job and the people too
Making a difference is what you do
But consider all you have at stake
The time is now don't make a mistake
Because the enemy prowls, wanting to attack
But we're on the wall, we've got your back
So get out front and take the lead
And be the winner you were born to be
G4S! protecting the world
G4S! so dreams can unfurl
24/7 every night and day
A warrior stands ready so don't be afraid
G4S! secure in your world
G4S! let your dreams unfurl
We're guarding you with all our might
Keeping watch throughout the night"

Its a bit like the Kenyans petit poit farmers who have to salute the Tesco flag every morning...

It was on a BBC2 'forty minutes' documentary, the buyer from Tesco( just out of university) was treated like an old colonial governor...

sorry, mangy tout, not petit pois, Zimbabwe, not Kenya, sorry...

Ok, it isn't true.

*Actually it's not quite true but close

Workers on the Chiparawe farm thought that Tesco was a foreign country - they offered it gifts, sang songs of dedication to their "dear friend" Tesco and worked under the shadow of a large Tesco flag.
"I've never been there but I can imagine it. I take it to be quite superior, quite magnificent," was how Blessing Chingwaru, chief mange-tout picker at Chiparawe, described the mythical Republic of Tesco.

Fed, is the article saying it was a stitch up and manipulated by the editors?(never!) it was a very influential doc...

Is it on YT? it should be..

Wayne Baker, the SWPF secretary, said some officers from south Wales had already been sent to Cardiff for this purpose.
Cardiff will stage the first Olympics action on Wednesday, 25 July, with women's football but Gerry Toms, manager of the Millennium Stadium, has said it will not be hit by problems affecting G4S.

Mr Baker told BBC Radio Wales: "It's a complete shambles, isn't it? The advance planning for this by G4S has been incredibly poor, has been completely incompetent.
"We're dealing not with a company now that's just been dragged in at short notice. This is the largest security company in the world."
Mr Baker added: "It's entirely unacceptable

After leaving school at age 15 in 1966 I was always told as a production worker that we "have to work harder", "be more productive", "let management manage". It now seems obvious that whats fucked this country over for the last 50 yrs is SHIT MANAGEMENT!! Up against the wall with the bastards!!

Gone belly up at box hill today as well according to my twitter. From local journos too. Fraction of the staff turned up.

It's OK though Dan, the good council tax payers of Surrey will dig deep and bail out G4S on this one...

In that sense the personalities involved are unimportant really. As is the company to an extent as they all follow the same model and approach by and large.

Yes, Private Eye had a headline a decade or so ago after the Tories (or Labour) won an election from Labour (or the Tories) or there was a cabinet reshuffle I don't remember which:

"Men in suits get each others' jobs"

yep, can't wait. its my local community dibble as well who will be filling in the gaps, although they seem to spend their time on twitter going on about transit vans looking dodgy in rural lanes

It might not be - the smaller Home Counties forces are already having to do loads for the events and camps in their force areas (for instance as the latest Eye points out Herts officers are having a maximum of eight days off between July 1st and Sept 10th), having to find - with two weeks notice - large numbers of extra officers to cover G4S security posts is probably not going to be possible.

Kill 'em all, let their unholy deity Mammon sort them out.
