Fishing Season 2021

New year, new thread. Anyone else out on the bank/shore or boat?

Have done a few very cold sessions with no luck, with a little rise in the temperature I got out this afternoon and managed these 2 winter bangers.

Yeah. Tieing knots was a challenge.

We spoke to a few others and they hadn't caught either which made us feel a little better.

Yeah, the lake I fish has been a bit like that. There have been some huge pike out of the local canal though... They don't mind the cold! I've not got out for pike yet... Still time

cracking carp mumbles.

miss the summer - had a ticket at pippingford park. proper Chris Yates type venue. Wild, over grown, barely fished. Gets as black as ink at night and is as spooky as fuck. Loads of old Lenny's lurking about. about as far as you can get from a commercial venue. I miss it with all my heart.

I'm not really good at winter venues. I want to have a go at barbel but it's venues that are the problem. I always like near total solitude when fishing and the ones i know are always crowded.

my goal for the summer is to catch a mullet. anyone know anywhere within a short hop from london where i am guaranteed some decent mullet? i only ever hooked one it was like hooking a train. lost it though!

Weather’s been cold snaps, mild spells......crap down here. Ventured out to a local club water & blanked. Hoping to get out next weekend, though cold snap forecast for this weekend! Roll on March!

In other news, I’ve started buying bass lure gear - moving on over to the salty dark side :D Love my coarse fishing, but need a new roving approach seeing as I’m coastal. Plus I can eat them, eh TopCat ? :D

As far as I'm know you need an estuary, they have soft lips so need a fairly soft approach as far as I know. Youtube will probably give you more advice?

Fresh bass! I would be tempted to make a beach side fire if I caught bass. I never have had the pleasure though. Hope you get loads.

A long shot, but do any of you know the rules on sea fishing licences in Andalusia? From looking online there seems to be some changes to the rules, but no one can tell what they are. I know I need to pass the exam, and to apply for a licence, but there’s confusion about liability insurance.

Thanks. I’ve tried that but I’m told there’s new regulations now. It has been suggested that a non Andalusia licence, for which you don’t need to pass the exam, can be used in Andalusia. But no one seems sure.

I‘m tempted to fish without a licence, the fine isn’t too bad if you are shore fishing. They confiscate your gear so cheap gear would do. Then, of course, you have to be caught, and I’ve never seen anyone checked.

Is it still the case that you don’t need a sea fishing licence in the U.K.?

I keep thinking of fishing to take a bit of boredom away at the moment. Maybe Thames.
Lots of videos on YouTube about fishing London rivers, all types of fishing too. Good time of year to get out lure fishing for pike, active and mobile fishing rather than sit and wait angling

I've found someone who will get a fishing licence for me, not Andalusian, but legal to use here and doesn't need the exam passing. So that's a way forward.

Now I need to get the gear.

Just applied for my surf and beach licence. I'm getting it from outside Andalusia so I don't need to do the exam, but can still fish here legally. Because I'm "of a certain age" I don't need to renew it.

I now need to get some gear. I was thinking of a travel, collapsible rod and a starter set. Any suggestions?
