Read the thread, seems highly likely the bloke openly used the phrase 'niggers can't read'. Amazed that anyone here, of all places, seem to muddying the water.
 
Im actually surprised the grosvenor let them back in. presumably this is because their profile has been raised a bit after 6 music had them on.

i wonder if tallulah still posts here. she seemed pretty adamant at the time.

Okay, he may not "really" be racist; he may have been off his tits. But you can't go around saying racist crap like "only niggers can't read" and blah blah blah, and not expect to be pulled up on it.

The landlord has spoken to one of the band (i think the singer), so they know our feelings, we've got our kit back (they borrowed some stuff for their gig at the Queens), and it's sorted. If Saul/Sol (whatever his name is) cares to come and explain himself, he may be un-barred. Its down to the boss, not me. But he may still not get a warm welcome from the staff unless he learns how to treat bar staff like people rather than emotional punching bags for his over inflated ego.

I have specifically avoided "speculating" throughout this whole thread, which is why you and others have accused me of "avoiding the issue", even tho yes everyone else has been wildly speculating. That's why I said "draw your own conclusions". You then asked me directly what MY conclusions are. I've tagged the person from the pub, and asked them "am i talking shit". Let's see. If it did happen something like what i speculated, what would you think?

Please go and check. The question they were asked on facebook was (direct quote) ""Dear Fat Whites. Please settle an internet debate. Are any of your band racists?" which they answered directly. There was a link to this thread, but only a moron would read this thread.

That was nothing whatsoever to do with the incident we've been discussing - as you have had repeatedly pointed out to you. Why are you now again pretending that it is? Please do go back and check. Again.

Let me break this down for you:

Well I've known most of them for a long time (i.e they are sound/nice) and that doesn't sound like them at all (so they aren't racist/couldn't have made this racist comment).

Maps exactly on to

A) people who seem nice to me can't possibly say racist things

I was replying to killer b saying that they had been asked about this incident directly on facebook, and that they avoided the issue. They weren't asked about this incident on facebook.

No, you're not going to wriggle off on those grounds. You've only further established that through you known them for a a long time and having no problem with them that this fits the broad definition of nice - i.e ok sound people you get on with.

Actually that's an interesting point. The only information we have on this thread is from someone who knows someone who heard something babbled and mumbled by a drunkard which maybe contained the line "nig**rs can't read" or something like that. We also hear that he was drunk and being a nob (no excuse of course) and probably can't even remember himself in what context of what he was babbling about. Who is to say he wasn't trying to tell the tale of an internet thread he read about someone claiming that "nig**rs can't read"?
These are all things we don't know for sure.
What we do know is that the cap in question is not barred from the pub and that he and his band openly claim not to be racists and show no signs of any racism in their music or any of their actions.

It is impossible to deal with, as we don't have anyone that was there. I've tagged the person who talked about the incident initially, maybe they will reply to my post. if it did happen something like i said in my speculation, what would your opinion be?

Yeah, you have a point. There's a possibility that a) he didn't say it or b) he was direct quoting someone else whilst discussing how shocking it was or similar. From this thread only, as it's the only information I have, if I had to come down on the most probable truth, the bloke's probably said something racist, probably not directly quoting someone else.
