F1 2021

Bottas has a massive part to play tomorrow, he really needs to keep Max behind him while forcing Max to push hard to make a mistake. I think the result tomorrow will depend on how long Bottas can keep Max behind
I hope he can do that, but some days Bottas just doesn’t seem to have enough lead in his pencil. A Verstappen / Bottas fight feels like one which will go Max’s way, but we will see I suppose.

First ad break on Sky. As per yesterday's comments...

"Today's Red Flags are brought to you by Culpepper's Erectional Compound.

"It's the sovereign solution for floppy fellows!

"Take Culpepper's Erectional Compound for a Stiffy in a Jiffy (TM)."

I wonder if they do bulk deliveries..?

Ricciardo to start Turkish GP from back of the grid!

Daniel Ricciardo was due to start Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix from P15, but engine element changes will send the McLaren driver to the back of the grid. McLaren has opted to introduce a new Mercedes ICE, turbo charger and MGU-H into the Aussie's pool of power unit hardware. But the new components surpass the number of authorized elements for the season, hence the grid drop.

A new exhaust system was also fitted to Ricciardo's Mercedes engine, but the extra part remains within the specific eight systems mandated by the rules. Ricciardo will be joined on the last row of the grid by Ferrari's Carlos Sainz who was the recipient in Turkey of a new engine supplied by the Scuderia.

Start on intermediates seems inevitable after heavy rain in Turkey

The strategies for the Turkish Grand Prix are likely to be binned. After heavy rain on Saturday night the track is currently wet and still drizzling, so a start on intermediates seems inevitable. The chance of rain during the race remains small, but just like in Russia, there might be a shower. It's also likely to be a wet start, as it's still drizzling at the moment and the track isn't drying particularly quickly.

This might just be an opportunity for Max Verstappen. The start will be important for the Dutchman, who earlier indicated that the inside has less grip than the outside. He therefore doesn't expect to get away as well as those who start on the outside, but a wet start might be an opportunity. Red Bull Racing has also been strong on a wet Istanbul Park, so for them it might as well stay that way. The race is expected to be run on a slowly drying track, which would be to Mercedes' advantage.
