European Super League (again)

hasn't that been happening since the PL began? Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, United playing each other endlessly? Who has ever got bored of that? It's only fans of the non big six that are complaining. I can GUARANTEE old trafford, anfield, Emirtates will be sold out to the rafters when barca, real madrid and co come to play. Every single game will be sold out.
You really are coming out with some awful shite on this thread.

A statement read: "Twelve of Europe's leading football clubs have today come together to announce they have agreed to establish a new mid-week competition, the Super League, governed by its Founding Clubs.

"AC Milan, Arsenal FC, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale Milano, Juventus FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF and Tottenham Hotspur have all joined as Founding Clubs.
Look forward to it. Games against Barca, two madrids and Milans, Juve.

The Germans would have loved to join. Dont get it twisted. They are only prevented because of the 50 plus1 rule. Otherwise, Munich would have been in.

Look forward to it.
It'll be fucking shit with no German or French clubs, who have all refused to join.

WRONG. The germans would have joined. they cannot because of the 50 plus rule they have. Funny how everyone is praising them when in fact they would have jumped at the chance if they could

Sounds like marketing bollocks to me. The game going in the wrong direction. Who wants that? Bar the mega-rich wanting more.

How am I wrong? The 50%+1 rule means German clubs will refuse to join a breakaway super league. Good luck having an elite competition without anyone from Germany or France.

I'm sure these threats by FIFA and uefa about banning players from euros and world cups wouldn't stand up in court. These clubs would have done their due diligence on it.

What's the obsession with French clubs. There is only one 'big' club in France.

This is fucking disgusting. And I say that as a follower of one of those clubs. This happens, I'm afraid I'm walking away from the team I've supported over forty years.

No you won't. You will still follow their results

Nah, fuck em. Execute any player who plays for one of the 12, strip them of every honour they've ever had and ban them from playing any other sport competitively pre-execution.

Edit: imprison their families too. Eternal shame on their houses.

So it's champs league but they get into it every year without fail. They might as well fuck off, the competition was stacked against everyone else before, definitely is now. But they can pay some cunt £300k a week so all good.

You've got soft in your dotage

I don’t really follow football- rugby yet to be completely fucked over by big money- Saracens’ best efforts not withstanding- so I don’t really understand the issues here.

Will this be a good or bad thing in terms of entertainment and a good or bad thing in terms of the National teams? I presume like everything else it will fuck over the grass roots teams, but how?

Can footy urbs give a simple explanation of what’s going on and what side I should pretend to be on when this is discussed?

The big clubs want to control everything and guarantee that they take all the money for themselves.

And remove the possibility of that ever not happening (which is pretty remote currently anyway tbf).

The big clubs in Europe, plus Spurs have decided to create a super league they they qualify for every season, thus ending the idea that any club, no matter how big or small, could work hard and reach the pinnacle of European football. They're creating a closed shop and thus saying a big fuck you to any club that has the audacity to not already be absolutely minted.

I didn't really see the importance of this since the only football I see is the excerpts on MotD plus FA Cup when it's on BBC. Rest already seems to have sold out to pay-per-view on Sky and other channels I'm not going to pay for.

All about the money though :(
