The UK haven’t announced pressing for this the EU have. What’s your view on that?

They've tried and failed, this will go the same way. Politicians don't like things they don't understand and can't control so they try to ban them.
Invariably at some point someone will realise it's not actually possible the idea will get canned. My faith in maths (which is what encryption is) is unshakeable, my faith in the stupidity of politicians even more so.

I believe the Septics have a long standing agreement with us (special relationship doncha know) that allows them to monitor whatever the feck they want from UK bases, though they still call them things like RAF menwith hill to sound like its in our interests

You haven’t annoyed me. I just was curious as to why you asserted what you did? You might have read something, have good connections, overheard something in a bus queue?
