Spain to introduce 100% tax levy on property bought by non-EU residents

This is good, in that it shows that one government somewhere is at least trying to address the housing crisis. Since Thatcher's wrecking ball on UK social housing, no government has done a thing to address it domestically.

It's also good because it pisses off the Daily Mail constituency who overwhelmingly voted for the very thing which makes this tax apply to them: brexit.

On the downside (if it is one): the TV show "A place in the sun" will probably suffer as a result, for lack of contributors. I used to hate it. Now, however, when my wife, an avid watcher, tells me it's somewhere near us or somewhere we´ve been, I can't drag myself away.

It won't affect your viewing of A Place in the Sun, as this proposal won't affect those who have residency.

Good on them and also ha, ha, ha.

Or maybe it's a benefit: it will save you from that TV show. I don't have a TV but always describe the low point in my life when I moved in with people who did, and within a week went from "I can now access interesting and informative content" to "lying on a scrunched up beer can and watching people buying flats in Spain".

I don´t actually watch it very much. Only when somewhere near us is on.
