An anecdote published in a Politico profile of former Donald Trump bodyguard Keith Schiller proves that #45 takes the Billy Madison approach to being rich and privileged. Most people graced with a personal cook at their disposal would likely eat what I just described to my editor as “professional chef food” — dishes containing ingredients such as leeks, goat cheese, and pheasants, all cooked al dente or sous vide and with lots of fresh tarragon.
Not Trump, though. After taking up residence in the White House, all he wanted was a cheeseburger, cooked up the same way his favorite restaurant does it. Yes, Donald Trump had the White House chefs try to recreate McDonald’s — specifically, a double quarter pounder with cheese, no pickles, extra ketchup, and a fried apple pie.
Unfortunately, the chefs weren’t up to the task, and Trump found the results unsatisfying, sending Schiller out to Mickey D’s to procure the real deal. Schiller was used to it — during the campaign, he would reportedly make twice daily runs to the fast food giant. Once in the morning for Egg McMuffins, and again in the afternoon for two quarter pounders and a large fry.
