That says a few dickheads tried to block the lifeboat but were unsuccessful (how would they have know what the shout was for?) Other than that the people of Hastings have been welcoming and supportive.

Yes, a few people tried to block a lifeboat because the people it was going to save were non-British and these people would rather they die in the freezing sea. They are encouraged to act like this by the likes of Nigel Farage who endlessly appears on national media, television airwaves and print. Its a total disgrace. Artaxeres said "This country is sick". I spent some time down in St Leonards. Sure, it has its fair share of dicks but what place doesn't? This reads like a political action by a small group of far right bellends, and I doubt it is representative of Hastings and St Leonards. Far be it from me to back up Spymaster (who could have won awards for the worst politics on urban), but I don't think he's downplaying anything here and Artaxerxes earlier comment was a massive over-reaction that does the cause of anti-racism no favours.

The story is bullshit and the woman who called it into Talk Radio was either lying or mistaken. What actually happened was a row between the lifeboat crew and a local fisherman whose boat was blocking the launch accidentally. It’s been blown-up and contorted by people like you.

He said the lifeboat decided to launch on the east side of the harbour arm - rather than the west side where it normally launches - and found a fishing boat was already there. This escalated into a “row”, but he said this had nothing to do with refugees being rescued in the Channel - it was the way the lifeboat crew spoke to the fisherman involved. He said there was a lorry driver on the beach who “had words about immigrants” to the lifeboat crew, but nothing was said about refugees by the fisherman.

You'd have to be a special kind of cunt to impede an emergency service shout to deliberately cause deaths. Even most fash would stop short of that, if only because it's an extremely serious offence that could see you doing proper time. And as I said at the time, people on the beach wouldn't know if the lifeboat was attending a refugee emergency or a local fishing boat, so the whole thing was immediately smelly.

I didn't say it represents Hastings, it represents official government policy. It represents the action of the coastguard in refusing the sos call. It represents the popular media calls to act this way.

You said the boat was intentionally stopped from launching by people who wanted the refugees to drown in the freezing sea. It wasn't. Are you now saying that the lifeboat (or any others) have deliberately refused to answer refugee shouts? If so can you provide evidence of this?
