I blame Gary Barlow.

The guy next to the tear gas cannister looks like he's casually sitting on a bollard similar to the one to the left of him in the pic...

edit: hang on, he totally is isn't he?

Enough.

Woy better bring the big guns out on Thursday. The Premier league may be a marathon not a sprint. A European knockout competition is a full on sprint. You play your best team every game, and play every game like its a final. Injuries are an acceptable gamble.

I want to see Rooney, Vardy and Kane all starting. Dyer in front of the Defence. Ali and Wilshire (if he can handle 90 mins) And i don't want to see Kane taking corners! EVER!. NO Milner (who i blame for the goal), No Lallana (although i thought he had a good game, I'd go with witlshire over him)

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!

Rooney looked good in his new position but Kane didn't have a touch of the ball inside the area, we needed some runners into the box (and better crosses too, looking at you Sterling).

No time to panic yet, the team looked very good in front of a solid (if not creative) Russian side, play like that again and take a couple more chances getting forward and we'll be ok I think.

Because that's worked so well before...?

Where are you putting Alli? Because if it ain't through the middle you're wasting him and his partnership with both Kane and Dier.

No disagreement from me there
NO Milner (who i blame for the goal)
Disagreement. Milner's a very useful, dependable player, and allows the 'star' players to do their thing while keeping the play ticking over.

We don't have any dependable/in-form wingers, so I think we shouldn't bother. Allow Walker and Rose to press on (within reason) like they did against Russia to provide width and crosses, with Dier and possibly one other defensive mid providing cover when they do. Then play Alli and Rooney in behind Kane and Vardy, keeping things moving and providing a secondary layer of attack when we need people in and around the box.

Sterling has potential, but personally I feel like he doesn't realise it enough to warrant starting (sub against tired legs, mind you...). Lallana got in some good positions but fluffed it when he did.

Personally I'd have taken Townsend over Sterling anyway but moot point now.

Problem with having Rose and Walker bombing forward is Wales are a much more counter-attacking side and will catch us on the break if we have too many defenders committed, Dier can't mop up everything.

Because that's worked so well before...? r.

4-3-3, But sit deeper. Vardy and Kane can play on the flanks. Alli in the middle but with instructions to come charging forward when we counter attack while dyer stays back. Wilshire left, Dyer right but coming inside when the attack is on.

So just the three players out of position then? Kane, our most traditional CF in years and top scorer in the PL last season, Vardy, the second top scorer in the PL last season and Dier, the best player to play at the base of our midfield jacked out to the right because... well, why??

Kane is not a traditional CF imo. Hes at his most dangerous when running at people, as is Vardy. I don't want to see either stuck in the middle as box players. Give them space to run with the ball at defenders. Let Rooney play that role.

Not to mention they'll drag defenders all over the place with their running. They can switch up all day long.

4-3-3 does not mean your rooted to that position. It's the formation that gives players the most freedom

How many of those Kane goals were him running at people, how many are him getting on the end of passes, crosses and deflections?

Vardy is best running at people, but not from the flanks! At least, not as far out as he was forced to play against Portugal when Rooney was playing through the middle. That nullified the threat of both Kane and Vardy.

It's questionable as to how Vardy would work with Kane, as they arguably succeed best against different types of defences, but neither should be playing out wide with Rooney in the middle!

And Rose/Walker - particularly Rose. They frequently link up with Rose getting 'Hockey assists'.

That's just a terrible idea. Kane would be totally wasted, and we'd be completely vulnerable in defence without the Rose/Walker/Dier combo where Eric falls back when the FBs bomb forward and the CB slides across.

Are the Spurs players mentally shot after the long hard season and failure to win the league? It must have some bearing on the mindset. I would like to see Vardy,Bertrand and Rashford get a chance.

That piques my interest - got any links?

No links as such... it was relayed to me in a lecture by Prof Gary Sheffield, who use to work at Dept. of War Studies, Sandhurst.

I think this is the book to go to:

The Fall Of France: The Nazi Invasion of 1940 by Julian Jackson
This book review hints at the 'good luck' the Germans had in the offensive.

"In truth, however, 1940 was a military defeat. The German tactics, based on the notion of lightning war, were much superior and they also had an enormous amount of good luck."

The Fall of France | History Today

Two england fans so far sentenced to 2 and 3 months prison in Marseille, like it was their fault the police had no plan whatsover to deal with trouble apart from tear gas everyone randomly and make the whole thing worse.

One 51 year old fan from Portsmouth in a Coma after being kicked in by a russian paramilitary gang. All 150 russian suspects got away, despite being very conspicuos during the events.

The british embassy should be demanding the resignation of the chief of police of France's second city.

Welcome to Marseille, twinned with fucking Chernobil. (or the thunderdome)

Harry Kane's taking fucking corners.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Go home . Ye sons of agincourt , Waterloo , rorkes drift and the Darlington monkey hanging fiasco .

Now .

Before it gets any worse .woy is plainly a wiwwing pawn in the wotten wussian conspiwacy .
