Donald Trump, the road that might not lead to the White House!

Two things have been true throughout the debates. One is that Trump has been, at every turn, underprepared, undisciplined, and operating completely without a strategy. In one of the third debate’s most unintentionally revealing moments, Trump said, “I sat in my apartment today ... watching ad after false ad, all paid for by your friends on Wall Street,” an inadvertent admission that he was inhaling cable news when he should have been prepping for the debate.

But the other reality is that Clinton has been, at every turn, prepared, disciplined, and coldly strategic. She triggered Trump’s epic meltdown purposely, and kept Trump off balance over multiple weeks that probably represented his last chance to turn the election around. She was ready for every question, prepared for every attack, and managed to goad Trump into making mistakes that became the main story the day after every single debate.

It is easy, now, to assume her victory was assured, to read Trump’s collapse as inevitable. But remember that he triumphed over a talented, 17-person Republican field in debate after debate to win the primary — one-on-one contests are unique, it’s true, but there was no particular reason to think Trump couldn’t use his bullying, blustering showmanship to take over the stage and expose Clinton as inauthentic and out of touch. The reason he didn’t is because she never let him.

We aren’t used to this kind of victory. We aren’t used to candidates winning not so much because of how they performed but because of how they pushed their opponent into performing. But the fact that we aren’t used to this kind of victory doesn’t make it any less impressive. Hillary Clinton has humbled Donald Trump, and she did it her way.

Don't want to drag this on for much longer but look at the state of it. What I said upthread and got loads of shit for was basically exactly what Dotcommunist said below, but for some reason the belboid reacted somewhat differently that time.
That he actually called Thatcher a slag (as a joke mind) as well as a bitch etc means I'll keep looking elsewhere thanks for my lessons on how to avoid being a misogynist. :facepalm:

I've unthinkingly used bigoted language in the past, maybe even as recently as three years ago. When I've stopped and re-thought my use of language, it's often because it's been challenged - sometimes in the most strident terms - and I've reflected on my words and what they mean.

What I haven't done is go searching through things the guy who's challenged me has said in the desperate hope of finding some evidence of hypocrisy - 'cause something they said years ago doesn't change the fact that something I said today was sexist/racist/whatever. And nor does having said something off-colour myself years ago somehow make me a hypocrite for challenging someone else today.

That makes sense. If belboid had come and said what you've just said, he'd deserve respect for it. Instead, he just did some defensive abuse hurling 'yeah I was rude to a couple of women but you're worse'. When DotCommunitst said exactly the same thing as I did above, nobody laid into him. But me I'm a closet CR loving misogynist. Just all a bit silly.

Thanks. I think people get riled up when some try to cut the guy some slack. He doesn't deserve it, his record on women is appalling and frankly, it's astounding how he's not been officially reprimanded on it. And I'm not calling on a ban here - I'm not normally in favor of them.

I've made plenty of stupid comments here over the years and I've been rightly pulled up on them. I've learnt lessons. And that's progress for me. This guy - unable to progress & positively revels in his phobias.

The funny thing about Trump going on about the media 'rigging' the election is that they rigged it for him to be the republican candidate in the first place, and he's aptly demonstrating why. He wouldn't have been nominated without the 'liberal' media pushing him to the front of the news so that they could generate interest/revenue and/or damage the Republican chances with a joke candidate. Can't have it both ways.

I can't get my head around the American electoral system all that well but I do know there were lots of other candidates/party's but sadly, they don't get a look in because of the way their voting system works, because of the cash involved and the way the generally have to work their way up through the system!

As for the Donald, does he ever finish a thought or sentence?
Unsurprisingly, last night was much of the same old stuff being regurgitated. Thank goodness the campaigning is nearly all over.
