Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

He did surrender himself and is on bail rather than arressted and detained but the idea that he was allowed to weigh and measure himself was laughable
Not necessarily. In DC he was excused the indignity of a mugshot, apparently a historic first.

He can't possible have grown an inch, in any event.

TBH I thought the pic on here couldn't be right, so checked online, and was surprised. No, I can't see how it's flattering. He doesn't look brave or defiant; he looks angry and cornered.

But I guess it's all subjective, and he will appear to his supporters in the way they want to see him.
Weak pout, like his bottom lip is quivering as he tries not to cry.

This is fun. He could have learned a thing or two from Paris Hilton.

I didn't know this was a thing

I think he’s going for blue steel, but just happens to be deranged.

hmm he should really remember he has been arrested more than once this year

I'm not a historian or a theologian, so this may sound preposterous, but is Trump a prophet, akin to Jesus or Muhammad? His followers adhere to any unsubstantiated bollocks he comes out with, specifically because it comes from him.

this is a pattern of the rightwing mind, apparently. much the same was said, in some quarters, about Bush jr., I remember it well. and now that constituency is saying it about trump. it's a need for a caudillo to hand over your thinking to, but it's also a need to claim christ for your side, an act of self-definition that in American politics is final and unassailable.

I feel Bush was different, as it was largely viewed that he was a front man for Cheney and Rumsfeld. Trump's stuff is all his own.

Victims of confidence fraudsters (or narcissists in relationships) often do that sort of thing, gradually cut themselves off from reality because they've bet the farm on the person lying to them and to walk away would mean losing a lot. Many of the people who comprise his base have fallen out with family and friends over him and whilst he is still there they will continue to back him.

I have no idea but I do like this line of thinking stavros. There does seem to be something different with Trump compared to other presidents in the type of support he gets, it is very religious and more cult like across a broader section of people like you say. It's also fueled by the amount of coverage he gets, he's a gift to the media, even the sections that dislike him. Has there ever been such a disputed election, this type and level of support and media coverage for someone that's lost the election, anyone that run again immediately, and whose support has been so strong in the face of such attacks and hatred from their opposition? Be interested to hear people's takes on it.

My US friend is convinced that Trump will be the Republican candidate and that he'll chose that loon Vivek Ramaswamy as his running mate. I have to agree that Trump definitely looks the most likely.
