My preference is for journalists to tell me what's actually been said, and then to draw my own conclusions about what they probably meant really.Semantics. In reality it very likely boils down to the same thing.

That's right. I read the Truth Social post because soon after starting to read the article I sensed that it was unreliable. If you want what Trump actually said, you can just read his Truth Social posts. That report included his post, along with what a Sierra Club spokesperson actually said, which is where "bribe their way" - which was in quotes in the headline - came from
"Corporate polluters cannot bribe their way to endangering our communities and our clean air and water," Mahyar Sorour of Sierra Club said in a statement. "Donald Trump's plan to sell out to the highest bidder confirms what we've long known about him: He's happy to sacrifice the wellbeing of American communities for the benefit of his Big Oil campaign donors." "We will keep fighting to defend our bedrock environmental protections and ensure they apply to everyone, not just those who can't afford Trump's bribe," Sorour added.
Do not knock it, it works. The good old days of pentium 150s and 14 inch monitors...then the communists came and took them away...and now we're forced to swipe and tiktok and everything else
what did Trump actually say? That's right. I read the Truth Social post because soon after starting to read the article I sensed that it was unreliable.
If Trump had said that billionaires would be allowed to bypass regulations then the headline would have been fair enough. But that's not what he said.
Trump said one thing, a critic interpreted it in a particular way, and the headline was written to include the critic's words in such a way as to mislead the reader about what Trump actually said.
what did Trump actually say?
Eta: and Trump does seem to say things that can be taken one way that sounds perfectly reasonable but after he's done whatever it is would allow him to say "well I told you I was going to do that".
So "will receive fully expedited approvals and permits" rather than "may receive fully expedited approvals and permits". Seems clear
An expedited process is not the same as bypassing regulation, you just skip the queue to get a decision. So "will receive fully expedited approvals and permits" rather than "may receive fully expedited approvals and permits". Seems clear
but yes he may have meant that - we'll just have to see how it works out.
And in who's company accounts does this money need to be lodged!!!"Any person or company investing ONE BILLION DOLLARS, OR MORE, in the United States of America, will receive fully expedited approvals and permits, including, but in no way limited to, all Environmental approvals. GET READY TO ROCK!!!"

A much bigly-er cunty version of his current selfYes, let's not prejudge him, could be he'll have a Scrooge-type epiphany over Christmas and emerge in Jan as a whole other person...
He does regularly make me think of how Nero would be if updated.

Most urban75 posters think that making this distinction is "just semantics".An expedited process is not the same as bypassing regulation, you just skip the queue to get a decision.
He will probably also tear up a lot of regulation, but that is separate thing and not what this tweet was saying.

They would probably fit in well, within the Trump administration.
People who make typos are the wrst.Right.
On a far more important note, you had a typo in your earlier post. It doesn't make you wrse than trump but it does cast a bit of a shadow on your nitpickery need for precision at all times.
Where have you got this from? I recommend that you disengage from the mindless groupthink that someone is targeting you with.your nitpickery need for precision at all times.
Fucking hell I have a cousin who had polio
RFK Jr.’s Lawyer Has Asked the FDA to Revoke Polio Vaccine Approval
Aaron Siri, who specializes in vaccine lawsuits, has been at Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s side reviewing candidates for top jobs at the Department of Health and Human Services.www.nytimes.com
fucking idiocy
Are they? Have I missed a memo? And yet people are still willing to give trump the benefit of the doubt on here, that we shouldn't prejudge him or assume things about him in advance of him doing exactly the things we know he'll do.
As painful as it is I just agree with teuchter the article was bad, there is plenty to be angry at without making more shit up to be angry about.I don't think they're giving him the benefit of the doubt - just pointing out that he may not have actually meant how it's being interpreted.
We might as well close the thread. No point trying to keep track of what he has or hasn't actually said or done. All news is fake news.Doesn't matter what Trump said or didn't say.
He's a colossal liar and will say whatever happens to suit him at any given moment and will then deny or retract it later.
It matters not one jot whether is was recorded or whether it was put in writing, he will still deny it.
