Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

I’m not an American but I can confirm that it’s standard protocol for former presidents to be addressed as president, while they’re still alive I think. In this case it’s not a manifestation of the orange one’s outrageous ego. Though I’m sure it strokes it.

Yes, after their elected term is finished they retain the right to be addressed as and use President as an honorary title.

Trump however has been milking this "right" for all it's worth in order to lend legitimacy to his false claims and posturing.

I do feel for anyone involved in the trial, they'll become targets for Trump's loons. What's the timescale for this as well, hard to see it happening this year tbh, especially as his side will drag it out pre-trial on any excuse surely?

From my experience of opposing his golf course, the timescale for getting in the sights of Trump's loons is pretty short. Literally hours after sticking my head over the parapet they were getting stuck right-in to trying to identify me IRL, for much further harassment/threats/false accusations etc if the experience of the folk they did successfully identify was anything to go-by.

As I was fairly careful about my incriminating data, they didn't get very far, about the worst they could throw at me was accusations of being a participant in a "secret" email server run by the incumbent Liberal councillor - now where did we hear that one reused..? :D

Is there solid proof Alinsky ever said that, or is that a myth coming from the far-right weirdos who fixated on it? I suspect it's the latter. Doing a quick search, can't find much hard proof of Alinsky saying it, but also find it attributed to Lenin and Goebbels, who also probably didn't say it.
eta: can find the rules listed here, and that's definitely not one of them: Rules for Radicals - Saul Alinsky

As with so many other quotations, it's been variously attributed to Alinsky, Lennin, Stalin, etc. Whoever it came from, the far right has implemented it.

hmm doing all this was protesting the idea of the DC judge putting in a protective order on the evidence from his jan 6 enquiry as he used it to intimated witness and discredit information on truth social

the guys a massive genius so massive

most he get is house arrest and barred from being involved in politics
cannot see the tank putting a former president in prison

ffs if the GOP had not bottled his impeachment after Jan 6th the world would be a better place atm

Why the prosecutor's got access to his Twitter account - to track exactly where he was when particular tweets were made so he can't say someone else made them.

"And it's interesting, the tweet about Mike Pence not having the courage to reject or delay the count, that came after advisers tell Trump there has been a riot at the Capitol, the Capitol had been breached, and he sends it anyway," Greenberg said.

"So that goes towards intent. What is his intent? To delay that certification of the count. So that's the key to the objective of this conspiracy. That tweet is critical to proving his intent."
and they didn't let him know about it so he wouldn't delete his tweets.

Pelosi bears some of the blame for that as well, there was no need for that impeachment to be rushed - if they'd waited until he left office he could have been done then.
