Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

He's suggesting that in this age of social media, boots on the ground and social calls still count for something in an election campaign, and that Trump's supporters haven't been putting in the legwork? And that this will affect the result? Whether it affects the result in those vital districts in the swing states is all that matters. Not holding my breath

I made the mistake of attempting to watch Trump's Madison Square Garden rally. I couldn't do it. Speakers ranged from some comedian I'd never heard of, to Melaina, RFK, Jr., and Elon Musk. This is an excerpt from the comedian who spoke. He went after migrants, Hispanics, and Puerto Ricans in about as racist terms as I've ever heard. Naturally, they'll just say that "it's just a joke." Some of the jokes included calling Puerto Rico a "garbage island with garbage people." I kept thinking "Does this guy understand that Puerto Rico is part of the US? They can't vote in PR, but there's still 8 million living on the mainland that can. That's enough to sway the election.

Here's the full speech:

Other speakers called Harris "the Antichrist." It all reminded me of film from the pro-Nazi rally held there in the 30s (which Donald Trump's father attended).

Ricky Martin has said he's supporting Harris.

(I've no idea what Trump's views on gay people are but given he's misogynistic, racist and ableist, I'm guessing they're not good. And a gay Puerto Rican is surely beyond the pale.)

Trump supporters will believe anything.

Jesus wept, they even think this idiot's a comedian...

The other comment from this guy that stood out was him saying that a black guy he knew "carved watermelons for Halloween." I haven't watched all of the footage, but I'm told that this guy was only one in a string of openly racist speakers. I turned it off when Melania walked out on stage. I just couldn't stomach the whole thing in one dose.

Holding a massive rally in a state he's not going to win with speakers alienating key blocs of voters is an, um, interesting campaign choice - going to be funny if Trump loses narrowly and MAGA world blames the comedian

Yes, I'm puzzled by that as well. It does seem like an odd choice.

What we do know is that they won't blame Trump.

i imagine they think it's a tough-guy move, going into the heart of the beast, we're not snowflakes etc.

sorry for the murdoch link, but this is satisfying. I'm from Yorkville, and the march in the picture in that article was 2 blocks from where i live.

It's not going to do much to help the campaign's outreach to Arab and Muslim voters in swing states like Michigan, either

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani spent a portion of his remarks fearmongering about Palestinians, saying they are taught to “kill us at 2 years old” and are “on the side of the terrorists.”

Muslim voters who are for Trump are forgetting Jared Kushner's Israel "peace deal" where he went and talked to the Israelis and asked, "what do you want?" They inked a deal without ever consulting the Palestinians and told them that they'd have to live with it. There's a famous quote about deals like that: "If you're not at the table, you're on the menu."

Seems like a move someone who knows he's losing would make. Whatever the purpose was (apart from spewing the same tired old hatred), it seems to have backfired badly for him and his 'comedian' bros.

Maybe that was the point, rile up his moron followers so they're primed and ready for violence against all the hate targets when he loses?

There was a similar thing over here, where the fascist scum got their arses handed to them, when marching through a Jewish area, the East End of London. Obviously on a smaller scale than what happened there though. Good for Lansky and the rest.

I'm afraid he's not losing... There only appears to be one direction of travel for the last few weeks, sadly.
