Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

How come (most of) these aren't federal crimes that could be pursued? I do wonder what Biden's been doing all this time.

The first few on voter registration:

more from TX

(at least, i didn’t see it in there)

The estate of Isaac Hayes got the go ahead to sue for three million after Trump ignored request to stop using Hold On, I'm Coming.

And in more MAGA music thievery news, with a nice sting in the tail.

Foo Fighters are clarifying that they didn’t approve of one of their songs being played during a Donald Trump rally in Arizona. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the presidential race and the independent politician is now backing the former Republican president. During a rally in Glendale in the swing state, the song “My Hero” was played, and now the band, fronted by Dave Grohl, is breaking their silence.

A Foo Fighters representative said in a statement to EW, “Foo Fighters were not asked permission, and if they were, they would not have granted it.” The band also noted that they would donate royalties generates from Trump’s usage of the song to Kamala Harris’ campaign.

hmmm - I doubt Trump will be impressed :)

Special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday filed a superseding indictment in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, slimming down the allegations against the 2024 presidential nominee in light of the Supreme Court’s immunity ruling.

Prosecutors have not dropped any of the four charges that they initially brought against the former president. However, the newly retooled indictment has carved out some of Trump’s alleged conduct, including allegations about the attempts to use the Justice Department to promote his false claims of election fraud.

It also adjusts how prosecutors describe the allegations they are continuing to bring about Trump’s election subversion schemes.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced on Truth Social that he has “reached an agreement” to participate in a September 10 debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, noting that “the rules will be the same as the last CNN debate, which seemed to work out well for everyone.”

The rules will largely mirror the terms used by CNN for its June 27 debate, including that microphones will be muted as the other candidate speaks and no studio audience will be present, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to CNN.

Still, the Harris campaign maintains that discussions are ongoing with ABC over whether microphones will remain on during September’s presidential debate, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Nope - he is not a happy camper!!!

Trump calls new indictment a 'travesty' in Truth Social rant

Donald Trump has responded to the new indictment filed against him in the election subversion case, describing it as an “effort to resurrect a ‘dead’ Witch Hunt” and accusing the special counsel of election interference.

The former president unleashed a torrent of criticism and complaints about the superseding indictment, which keeps the same criminal charges against him that were filed last summer but removes allegations related to the justice department.

The indictment came after a supreme court decision in July that ruled that Trump and other presidents have immunity for official acts.

Trump described the move as a “travesty” and sought to pin the blame on his rival for the White House, Kamala Harris.

deranged cult, grifting his fan base

I was just reading about that nonsense.

Donald Trump has launched a new collection of digital trading cards as he struggles to keep up with the fundraising of rival Kamala Harris’s campaign.

Trump announced the “very exciting news” in a video on Truth Social on Tuesday, saying the cards were returning “by popular demand.” The cards cost a whopping $99 each.

The “America First” collection features 50 images of Trump dancing, and in what appears to be a knock-off Ironman suit with the Bitcoin logo. Trump has previously courted the political support of cryptocurrency traders.

And people are daft enough to buy these things.

New hard hitting ad linking Trump to Project 2025 - “Donald Trump’s back, and he’s out for control.”

View attachment 1b1.mp4

Surely that should scare a lot of the undecide/independent voters?

As part of a major ad push leading up to the first scheduled presidential debate between Harris and Trump on Sept. 10, the campaign plans to run daily television and digital ads in battleground states warning of the dangers of Project 2025, seen as a blueprint for a possible second Trump term — though one Trump has recently disavowed.

“Donald Trump’s back, and he’s out for control,” a narrator says in one of the new ads, dubbed “Control,” that is cut with footage of Trump saying he would “have every right to go after” his political opponents.

“And he has a plan to get it. … It’s called Project 2025, a 922-page blueprint to make Donald Trump the most powerful president ever,” the narrator continues.

Project 2025 calls for, among other things, dismantling the Education Department, passing sweeping tax cuts, imposing sharp limits on abortion, giving the White House greater influence over the Justice Department, reducing efforts to limit climate change and increasing efforts to promote fossil fuels, drastically cutting and changing the federal workforce, and giving the president more power over the civil service.

It also includes building an “army” of conservatives ready to take jobs should Trump take office in 2025. The project was partially fueled by a desire to be ready for “Day 1” of a conservative presidency. During Trump’s first term, vacancies in key jobs contributed to chaos.

Washington Post article.

I saw that there have been a lot of new voter registrations, and:

perhaps to balance the large number of voters who've been deregistered by republicans

aaand at the recent photo op where Trump was seen giving the thumbs up over the grave of a soldier, one of the employees tried to stop trump employees from photographing recent graves which are not allowed to be photographed.

I read that the trump campaign questioned the sanity of the official.

Just can't believe influencers nowadays :(

Luna, a self-described 32-year-old “MAGA Trump supporter” from the battleground state of Wisconsin, has gained a huge following since she joined X, formerly Twitter, in March. Her timeline has become a digital bullhorn for the “Make America Great Again” movement, praising former President Donald Trump’s re-election bid, promoting conspiracy theories about his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and touting Republican talking points to nearly 30,000 followers, who she addresses as “patriots.”

“Would You Support Trump Being The President forever? I wonder if you all support Trump for president just like me,” @Luna_2K24 posted on July 29, sharing a beach selfie in a white bikini and asking her followers to respond with an American flag emoji if they agreed. The post was viewed by around 54,000 people.

But Luna isn’t real. The photos of the smiling brunette posted periodically on @Luna_2K24’s timeline are of Debbie Nederlof, a German fashion influencer who lives across the Atlantic and won’t be voting in the US presidential election in November.

And people are daft enough to buy these things.

Trump said that those who buy 75 digital cards will get an invite to a “gala dinner” at his country club in Jupiter, Florida. This number of cards would set a collector back $7,425.

Go on, Cupid, you know you want to. 😜

Harris favours live mics so as to be able to counter the unhinged, froth-specked bullshit that will come out of trump's mouth in real time, as opposed to having to wait until it's her time to speak (ie. so she doesn't have to waste valuable time getting her own message out). I hope she presses for this. Apparently it was the trump team who wanted the muted mics because they (rightly and sensibly) can't trust the big orange baby to go a whole 90mins without having a massive insult-spewing, foot-stamping, diaper-filling tantrum.

“We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates’ mics should be live throughout the full broadcast,” Brian Fallon, the Harris campaign’s senior adviser for communications, tells POLITICO. “Our understanding is that Trump’s handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don’t think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own. We suspect Trump’s team has not even told their boss about this dispute because it would be too embarrassing to admit they don’t think he can handle himself against Vice President Harris without the benefit of a mute button.”
