Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

Well if under 4 mins is too long for your concentration span, don't click on it. No one is forcing you to watch. It's not compulsory. You might want to adjust your tone too. I think I detect a smidgen of rudeness creeping through there, ffs, but maybe that's because I wouldn't go around dictating to someone else what they can or can't do just because I may not like something that may involve committing to focusing for a few minutes. I do apologise for not getting your permission before having the audacity to post something
I’ll give you rude, pompous cunt

They're being unfair to him again, reporters this time  but he's got the perfect response

Donald Trump backed out of an interview after a local paper asked him for data to back up his continued baseless claims that crime is on the rise under President Joe Biden.

The Detroit News reported that Trump’s campaign had agreed to an interview with the former president on Tuesday after a campaign speech. However, the campaign suddenly claimed Trump no longer had time for the interview after a reporter began probing them on crime data.

“The Trump campaign had initially agreed that Trump would participate in an interview with The Detroit News on Tuesday,” state politics reporter Craig Mauger wrote. “But after the newspaper began asking about the Michigan crime data before the event, a campaign aide said the presidential candidate no longer had time for an interview after the speech.”

At the Howell, Michigan campaign event, Trump claimed there is a “crime wave” going on at levels “nobody has ever seen before.”

“The amount of crime that we have is unbelievable,” Trump said, later labeling this perceived rise the “Kamala crime wave.”

He's too toxic to be watched directly but buffered through being reported on, Poot's son is right. It's like watching a massive disaster where you realise how horrific it is but can't help yourself.

Like staring directly at the sun

"unbelievable", indeed.

FFS, he hates when his lies are called out - why cant he be fact checked for the upcoming debate? Both candidates should be.
Another forum I visit for technical info on a specific niche area (solar power) has a “chit chat” section for off topic posting, and the threads are dominated by MAGA types.

What becomes clear is the very concept of the existence of facts is disputed by these people, and they cannot be persuaded that Trump or anyone on the right is lying as everything is apparently a question of “who you choose to believe”.

Trumpism has led to the collapse of the very concept of a single, verifiable truth and now the veracity of everything is a question of who shouts the loudest. It’s grim and dystopian.

Bit surprised they have much interest in Solar power.

But did "Trumpism" cause it, or is it more of a consequence of it, that has reinforced it?

Its wierd that this contest is even remotely a contest - Trump - leaving aside ( ) the rape, racism, convictions, the fraud, the lies, the attemtped coup - looks old, tired and is increasingly incoherent - Harris has everything going for her. You'd think that shed be streets ahead in the polls - but here we are.
However - as mentioned upthread - Trump himself looks incereasingly dispiraited and half arsed. So - what would happen if he decided to drop out?

You forgot the intense stupidity

According to CNN:

Republicans – If a vacancy occurs on the Republican side, the Republican National Committee can either reconvene the national convention or select a new candidate itself.

The momentum seems to be with Harris, but she hasn't won yet, it is still likely to be very close and Trump still had a good chance.

And there is a long way to go yet. Not that long ago everyone thought Trump was certain to win after he got shot at, but that has been forgotten amazingly fast. I don't know if it was deliberate or just an accident but I do think the timing of Biden dropping out was just right to shift focus away from the assassination attempt, but not so close to look like they were trying to do that.

But anyway still time for things to shift again, and I don't like the apparent assumption going around that it is over already.

Any one heard from the Christian right/evangelicals lately?

They used to be a main supporters for him.

There appears to be a little good news on this front . Those who don’t want to watch the video: it begins with a short advert showing Trump saying he doesn’t ask God for forgiveness and a full screen saying Evangelicals for Harris. I didn’t watch the rest of the video but I expect it’s editorial chatter.

Here’s a short giving the same info

And a Newsweek article (which I’ve not read but I suspect covers the same turf).

I think losing the evangelicals it’s the clincher. I was pretty sure he was going to win before Biden stepped down. I’m now certain he’ll lose.

For every far right evangelical there are dozens, hundreds, of not-mad religious types who prioritise stuff like stopping abortion, same sex marriage antiLGBT over and above anything/everything else.

This is still a hot and dangerous issue and future RW candidates will definitely use it to campaign for the presidency in the future. They’ve gone off Trump cos he don’t align with this shit, not because they’ve turned away from Trump per se.

Trump's support from evangelicals has been rock-solid over the last nine years and I doubt there's much that could shake it at this point, even if he introduced Satan as his special friend at a campaign rally they'd still probably go on about him being a flawed man doing the Lord's work
