Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

It was because I was complaining about right wingers and their opposition to animal rights (horse racing tories for eg) and she said she didn't see it as left vs right and gave trump's alleged environmental protection as an example? Anyway everything else I heard about Trump it said the exact opposite so I just wanted to know where she could possibly have got this from. :(

i don't know about the horses bit, but Orang Utan above on this page spotted that what trump "opened up" was a large nature preserve to oil and gas exploration. if your friend is trying to use some verabl trickery to claim that trump is an evironmentalist becuase he "opened up" a preserve,, she's either a rhetorical failure or misinformed herself.

Indeed

Declared a reserve was what she said- what I found was that some bipartisan legislation had declared something a reserve and Trump had little to do with it ...

She might be on about this:

The Great American Outdoors Act, which was a piece of bipartisan legislation, not fully Trump/Republican. It sounds fine enough and it did put the financial footing of US Government conservation on firmer ground but Trump promptly countermanded a lot of its provisions with a series of Executive Orders. Biden then cancelled the orders and reinstated the act.

By the end, Trump removed legal protection from a lot more land than he actually protected. Some 35 million acres were opened-up to exploitation during his term.

Yes, that's it I think.

Doesn't open for me petee

Separate topic: this looks like the logical extension of American fundamentalist Christians:

A growing Christian supremacist movement that labels its perceived enemies as “demonic” and enjoys close ties to major Republican figures is “the greatest threat to American democracy you’ve never heard of,” according to a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The prosecution must have done a seriously brilliant job given their star witness had been convicted of perjury in the past. All 34 counts. Insane.
Not insane. The defence even admitted as much when winding up ("Please don't send Trump to jail!"). With handwritten notes and signatures proving Trump had first hand knowledge of the money being paid, it was almost certain that he would be found guilty on at least a number of counts. And yes, Cohen has a credibility problem, but he also has first hand knowledge of what Trump is really like, and I think when a liar repents, a jury is more forgiving than when a liar lies.

That "don't chuck him in jai!" gambit was a last desperate roll of the dice for the defence to try and force a mistrial by dividing the jury opinion on the verdict.

sorry, it's another example of a: bugbears, b: anti-senitism, c: desperation.

Investor George Soros, a funder of progressive groups and Democratic candidates, has been a Republican bogeyman for years.

He’s taken on a prominent role this year in Western Pennsylvania as Republicans significantly feature him in their efforts to defeat U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio in the region’s only two competitive congressional races this fall.

But the rise of antisemitism in the U.S. since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel has sparked new concerns that singling out Mr. Soros, a Holocaust survivor, mainstreams the stereotype of the all-powerful Jew pulling the world’s strings.

This is a fucking disaster, huge legal win for Trump

This was always likely. American justice appears to be two things at once; thorough and deliberately convoluted.

The Don will no longer be allowed a gun. :(

He's been complaining about having his First Amendment rights taken away with the gag order, now he can complain about losing Second Amendment rights - just to fuck with him, they should violate his Third Amendment rights by quartering soldiers in his home without his consent during peacetime

Trump groupies get all hot and bothered after seeing the fuhrer at Arizona rally:

Extreme heat in Arizona sent 11 people to hospital as thousands waited to enter a campaign rally with former President Donald Trump.

As Trump took the stage just after 17:00 EDT (22:00 GMT) at a mega-church in Phoenix, the temperature was 111F (44C).
