Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

The Judicial system in the States must be so different from that in the UK.Fairly sure that Trump described the trial Judge inter alia as a criminal immediately following the guilty verdicts.Assuming the trial Judge is also to be the sentencing Judge why would he not put him in the jug for the full four years?

This is from half-listening to stuff about this on my car radio, but isn’t the maximum actually twelve years (something something 3 major counts running consecutively or somesuch)?

I do get - and agree with - the usual explanations of the rise of populism in America and the distrust of 'establishment' politicians. How that has become overlaid with conspiracy theories and all the rest. Nor do I think there's some sacred standard of behaviour amongst politicians, the departure from which will be automatically punished by the voters. But still.... you just have to remind yourself this is a man who was recorded admitting to sexual assault, who was convicted in a civil court of rape, who spews a stream of factcheckable lies every day, who has fallen out with pretty much everyone who worked with him and then gets a felony conviction.... and the polls don't even flicker, he even gets a feckin' boost from it. Sometimes you have to remind yourself how far things have slipped. :(

It’s a long time since we were in Kansas, Toto.

The prosecution must have done a seriously brilliant job given their star witness had been convicted of perjury in the past. All 34 counts. Insane.

i follow a few commentators and all of them pointed out that the prosecution used others to bolster the items that cohen was the immediate witness to, before they brought him onto the stand. so all he had to do was re-assert what others, who were unimpeachable and in one case still a trumper (mr. pecker), had already testified to. when cohen said he did lie, but at trump's behest, it was accepted by the jury becuase the prosecution had laid the groundwork.

Someone on reddit pointed out that Trump can't visit his golf course in Scotland any more because they don't allow convicted felons in

:)

Someone else pointed out that ain't necessarily so

:(
Would a felony conviction stop him entering the uk though? :hmm:

Where does Trump vote? Seems his home is in Florida, a state that bars felons from voting until they have completed their sentence, so a suspended sentence could see him ineligible to vote for himself...

Sadly not apparently. They use the legislation from the state the person was convicted in and as NY allows for it Trump will be able to vote.

I assume if you watch that clip then it's fairly self evident. He's probably got a better understanding of counting, adding up and things like that though.

You missed the bit about her having a drink on the tube while the tories sat around picking their teeth with the splintered bones of the working class.
