Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

There was that time when Jesus went back to his hometown and everybody thought he was full of shit, though New Yorkers didn't go this far with Trump:

They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

Have we had this?

"We're taking back our country. When we get in, it's gonna go very rapidly. We're gonna do a lot of things. We're gonna look very strongly at J6. Those people -- there has never been people treated more horrifically than J6 hostages."
-- Trump

even worse than how he has been treated?

The text of the AP story continues:

Despite pending federal charges against Trump for conspiring to overturn the 2020 election, and his recent guilty verdict in an unrelated hush money trial, the Republican former president arrived emboldened as the party’s presumptive nominee. He has successfully purged the GOP of critics, silenced most skeptics and enticed once-critical lawmakers aboard his MAGA-fueled campaign.

A packed room of House Republicans sang “Happy Birthday” to Trump in a private breakfast meeting at GOP campaign headquarters across the street from the Capitol. The lawmakers gave him a baseball and bat from the annual congressional game, and senators later presented an American flag cake with “45” candles — and then “47" — referring to the next presidency. Trump bragged that even his telephone rallies for lawmakers could draw bigger crowds than mega-popstar Taylor Swift, who has yet to make any endorsement.

The tone of the first paragraph seems a little fawning but I don't think it's inaccurate to call it a "triumphant" return - he left Washington in disgrace a couple of weeks after the Capitol riot, now the Republicans who criticised him are lining up to kiss his arse.

AP story goes on to say:

But Trump’s private meetings with House and Senate Republicans so close to the Capitol were infused with the symbolism of his return as the U.S. president who threatened the American tradition of the peaceful transfer of power.

...As democracies around the world come under threat from a far-rightward shift, some analysts warn that the U.S. system, once seemingly immune from authoritarian impulses, is at risk of populist and extremist forces like those that Trump inspired to sack the Capitol.

The media are doing exactly what they did last time because he drives ratings. Running headlong into fascism, and they'll be the first with the boot on their faces, but gotta get them clicks immediately with no thoughts to the future in today's world.

Now more than ever anti-pedophiles and anti-rapists need to unite to wipe the cancer of Trumpism off the earth.

At least some people seem to be waking-up.

WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump failed to impress everyone in a room full of top CEOs Thursday at the Business Roundtable’s quarterly meeting, multiple attendees told CNBC.

“Trump doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” said one CEO who was in the room, according to a person who heard the executive speaking. The CEO also said Trump did not explain how he planned to accomplish any of his policy proposals, that person said.

Several CEOs “said that [Trump] was remarkably meandering, could not keep a straight thought [and] was all over the map,” CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin reported Friday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

:D

As a leading infectious diseases expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci was thrust into a leadership role during the Covid-19 pandemic and experienced volatile treatment from Donald Trump during his presidency, Fauci wrote in his new memoir.
Trump would “announce that he loved me and then scream at me on the phone,” Fauci wrote of the abusive behavior in On Call: A Doctor’s Journey in Public Service, due to be published next week.

“Let’s just say, I found this to be out of the ordinary,” Fauci wrote. According to the immunologist, Trump would drop f-bombs often in conversations, including one where the then-president claimed Fauci cost the U.S. economy “one trillion fucking dollars.”

In his new book, Fauci talks about how badly Trump wanted to reopen the country and his embrace of poorly qualified advisers pushing unproven treatments, according to The Daily Beast. Fauci also discussed Trump’s hospitalization with Covid and his outrageous claim that bleach could kill the virus.

He's basically Father Austen Purcell, or Uncle Colm from Derry Girls, in his style of oration. Just angrier and more paranoid.

Trump keep boasting about acing a dementia test years ago, though he gets the name of it wrong sometimes, calling it an IQ test instead of a cognitive, and yesterday got the name of his doctor wrong

On Saturday (06-15-24), Donald Trump hosted a roundtable discussion at the 180 Church, a historically Black church near downtown Detroit. With “Black Americans for Trump” signs prominently displayed, the former president vowed to return “some Sunday” to attend a sermon, boasting, “We have done more for the Black population than any president since Abraham Lincoln.”

The event, which featured both a roundtable discussion and a speech, has drawn significant criticism and skepticism. Observers noted that the audience seemed predominantly white, despite the church’s location in a city known for its high Black population. This disparity led critics to accuse Trump of filling the church with white supporters to create the illusion of a robust and diverse crowd.

Christopher Webb (@cwebbonline), a lifelong Democrat, reacted to Trump’s Detroit appearance on X, sarcastically remarking, “Trump is definitely going to win the Black vote…by filling a Black church with white folks for his rally.”

who are the real racists, eh?

“HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE RADICAL LEFT DEGENERATES THAT ARE RAPIDLY BRINGING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA INTO THIRD WORLD NATION STATUS WITH THEIR MANY ATTEMPTS AT TRYING TO INFLUENCE OUR SACRED COURT SYSTEM INTO BREAKING TO THEIR VERY SICK AND DANGEROUS WILL.

“WE NEED STRENGTH AND LOYALTY TO OUR COUNTRY, AND ITS WONDERFUL CONSTITUTION,” he added.

“EVERYTHING WILL BE ON FULL DISPLAY COME NOVEMBER 5TH, 2024,” he wrote. “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
