Do you own a jug?

Dancing as fast as I can
I didn’t until yesterday. I made it to 42 before buying one. This feels like rather late in life - when did you first have one in your household?

I bought a couple of decanters at a charity shop a few years ago so perhaps my priorities were different. Which is odd as I drink water every day and drink alcohol at most once a week averaged over the year. Anyway the jug it was £3 so not a bank breaker

Anyway now I do… the possibilities are endless. Well I suppose it will be nice if people come for dinner I can have a jug on the table (maybe twice a year), and maybe I can use it out in the garden too, but most of my day to day water consumption is via a 2 pint cup I brought home from a rugby match.

I have several milk jugs - they are the last thing to break in a tea set - a water jug liberated from a pub that we use once a year for Pimms and three measuring jugs. Which reminds me one the measuring jugs has been missing for a while :hmm:

I have many jugs for many purposes. Including but not limited to two Pyrex measuring jugs, one plastic measuring jug, two glass water jugs, several milk jugs including a Cornish Ware one, cream jugs, and jugs intended for displaying cut flowers.
And this is why we can't have jugs -- because Danny has them all. :(

(I do have a Pyrex measuring one.)

Eta Missed A380 and mx wcfc's posts. They're clearly in a different league. Jug madness.

I hadn’t considered other jugs.

I have two Pyrex style glass measuring jugs, one for measuring, and one of them I use in my filter coffee machine as the supplied jug cracked and shattered.

Think I had a milk jug once which had been my granddads but no more. I don’t drink milk, perhaps lost or given away during a house move

The water jug is my first jug I have for use outside of food preparation.

Similar to this.

A couple of measuring jugs, a couple of milk jugs, a couple of decorative ones for flowers, one I bought and used in a show last year that hasn't yet made it out of the bedroom despite occasional tidying and another from Tallinn which I think is traditionally for beer...or...milk...or mead or something!

I knew a bloke at the uni who bemused his landlord and housemates when viewing a house when he asked if he could put “big jugs” on the wall.

He had quite a strong accent from somewhere up north (forget where) and was actually saying “picture hooks”.

Any other jug related anecdotes?

I have a Pyrex measuring jug and a plastic measuring jug. I also have two small china jugs which I use for pouring cream and custard when I'm being posh, or for displaying small bunches of flowers at other times.

You are like the dessiato , no toaster/ multi toaster of jugs.

We have had a measuring jug for years and a glass carafe used mostly for cold brew tea.

Also a small little milk pourer that I made and kept rather than tried to sell as it's got a minor chip (and recently I chipped the matching yunomi so that's now my coffee mug)

I got 3. 1 2l glass one with stopper, for mixing smoothies. 2... Actually they're more steiners than jugs, which I use to hold spachulers and wooden spoons.

I am neither confirming nor denying that I own a jug.
I think that anyone asking this question in a free society is worse than Hitler.

I have a few (5 or so) My favourite is a handsome green Denby, which is very disloyal to my beloved Woods ware Beryls
