Hi,

hoping someone can help me here....
I had a tape of Hype on Fantasy FM from around 1991, starting with Everybody in the place by The Prodigy. It was my bestest ever tape...ever!
Does anyone here have a copy of this?!
I left it in my car when I traded it in and the garage just flung all these old tapes in the bin!
Im willing to cross palms with silver for a copy of this tape...

Cheers

TG

I have a look I got Fantasy FM think most are ShadowFax tho

I had a best tape ever SpaceFM I had my car radio nicked along with tape. Would have been happy if they left tape.

around 1991
think they stop before 91. :( was one of the best

not like the late 90's shit big shout to ever 5 min. oops sliped in to moan mode :D

I had my favourite ever Don FM tape nicked with my car stereo too - Atmosfear and Kingsize circa 1992.

Probably ended up unspooled next to a curb. It had "Sounds of the Don" written on it in tippex in case anyone's seen it.

I vandalised many of my early tapes. My Mike 'The Boss' Allan seminal early Electro/hip hop recordings took a real pattering in particular.

For some unknown reason I thought that attaching plenty of stickers in an unendearing and frankly quite childlike way was quite amusing back then. But after 20 years, the novelty of pulling off half a Garbage Pail Kids Sticker, or half a Kenny Swain (?) from Football '83, from the edge of the cheap TDKs prior to playing wears a little thin...

At least your tapes met a heros end, not some cheesy self-inflicted fate of cheap stickerage...

:(

I used to have a tape of Hype on Playschool fm, fuckin wicked it was too, pure acid. I've no idea what happened to it though. Lost to the mists of time me thinks.

got a couple of Fantasy tapes of him from around 89-90, mashing up stuff like Beastie Boys with Cybersonik's Technarchy. Also doing the craziest mixing'n'scratching ever with Radio Babylon before dropping Q by Mental Cube

depends if it woz Hype .......Interdance..... with Prodigy ....the masters do exist? Interdance being the clue....

Fuck - you know I might actually have this show - I kept all my Hype recordings - especially his inspired "scratchattacks".

If I don't have this particular show I'll definitely have several similar.

Kept every single cassette tape from those days (much to the missus' dismay!) and they fill several boxes in the loft!!!

Question is - when do I get round to converting them all???

I have to put them onto enhanced audio CD after editing out the random shite... for my own pleasure.

Be sure, when I do, I'll announce it here and maybe someone exellent will provide some space online to host the resultant MP3 files!

(I'm thinking around July)

whats an enhanced audio cd when its at home

One that's been mastered from cassette tapes that have been played from an individually Azimuth-tracked Nakamichi tape deck, filtered through a Behringer Ultrafex Multiband Enhancer, then through a Behringer Ultra Dyne Pro DSP9024 Dynamic Processor, then filtered again with a 200 band Yamaha parametric EQ to pull out any dodgy frequencies, common in pirate broadcasts, then finally edited in Peak software to smooth any nasty peaks, gaps or microphone spikes in the broadcast.

Well you did ask!

PK....pretty please with all the trimmings, please have that tape!!!

The MC starts it with "sounds of DJ Hype for the next 90 minutes....Fantasy London.Nowhere Else....Lets go!".

I have been trying to get hold of a mate who might have it, but hes disappearded!!

Are you planning to post here if you find it?

Wee Beastie, any chance you can cut it to disc?

Cheers guys,

TG75

PK /

*slaps forehead*

oh how could I NOT have known that

So any chance of you slapping the mp3's on the interweb soonish  :)

July, earliest.

If I hunt around the loft and find the Hype tapes I guess I could do it sooner - but you ain't seen my loft!

Go on Pk!! You can do it man!
Just think how happy you will make us.....spread the love, keep the faith...etc!

PLEEEEEEASSSEEEE!

PK, Im not all that fussed for getting the hiss off the recording to be honest....just to hear that gem of a mix would be enough! The I had an excellent copy of it, which I passed on to mates. I then lost my original, and had to copy back of a copy of a copy, so it wasnt great quality the last time i heard it!
can you email or PM me if you manage to find it mate?

No pressure, mind! ;) :D

This reminds me, I've mislaid my tape of DJ Hype's set over the late bank holiday of 1992 :( A few years ago I was amazed to find loads of this stuff available on the net. This site has an online archive and it's worth looking at the links page to find similar sites such as this which has track listings for mixes, including on of Hype's. I'm seem to recall one of these sites has a load of the 1991 - 1992 Fantasy mixes for download; can't look now as I'm getting ready for work
This brings back memories of a summer where I didn't have to work and spent my time lazing listening to the radio :D

Cheers Wyn! Cant find them there...will look a bit harder. They have got Dreamscape4 tho!! Another of my old favourites..."hard boiled eggs. For your breakfast...."
Pk I understand you wanna do it justice mate. Can you mail me (tamginelli@hotmail.com) if/when you manage to find it please?
