David Cameron: socialists have no sense of humour

It would look like a hare from a distance.

ba-doom TISH!:D
sadly, a whole lot more than one is needed....

Why? If I name comedians I consider to be unfunny, it isn't the final word on the subject, is it? You want me to do it because you want to argue the toss about something that's purely subjective.

I simply made gentle fun of your terminology. You used the term "alternative comedians" in a sentence in the present tense. If someone said something about their gramophone or wireless, similar unbridled hilarity would ensue. That's all. Let's not have a ruck.

So alternative comedy is a term contemporary with gramophone or wireless, is it? No it isn't. It's still in use. If you think that pointing this out is a ruck, you must have led a bit of a sheltered life.

Reminds me of the "Not the Nine O'Clock News" sketch where the bloke goes into the audio shop for a new stylus. :)

He didn't say that, now did he?

just seen on twitter

"If you want a vision of communism, imagine a boot stamping on Sunny Hundal's face. Forever."

which kind of disproves cameron's point

(not very on topic, just thought it needed to be shared)

And yet, you were so keen to pursue the point earlier. Was it the arse-handing, plate thing? :(

I wasn't. He took issue with something I said; I answered him. It's what happens on message boards. It isn't important though, so go worry about that business start-up.

It is? Where? Eastbourne?

Of course it is, you fool. Have you not noticed the amount of politically correct comedy still around? Even the non-politically correct stuff now has to be done with a slef-conscious irony. Most people still call it alternative comedy even if your mates don't.

Hundal's voice is annoying. Like a posh Sylvester the cat.

What you seem to be saying is that almost all mainstream comedy these days makes some effort to avoid being gratuitously racist, sexist, or homophobic. That it is no longer seen to be acceptable to simply assume that being offensively bigoted will be funny. And that this new mainstream of comedy is referred to by most people as "alternative".

It's a perfect foot in gob moment. You've described how what used to be "alternative comedy" has become the mainstream, then you claim that most people still call it "alternative comedy". Do they heck as like. It's just "comedy" now. The likes of Bernard Manning and Jim Davidson are no longer the mainstream, they are dull bigoted old twats.

Get off your high horse. Mainstream comedy was never primarily about bigotry, although some certainly was. In my experience most people do still draw a line between what they see as mainstream comedy (even if it has been pushed to the margins and nostalgia TV) and politically correct comedy. The latter is still widely referred to as alternative comedy, even if it isn't in your circle.

And if you think that gratuitous racism, sexism and homophobia isn't still widespread, it must be a bit of a genteel circle you move in.

Well, if that's your experience, then I can only conclude that the people ion the social circles you move in are massively behind the times. everywhere I've gone 'alternative' comedy so long ago became the mainstream that NOBODY uses that term, nor have they done so for a very long time. You know, like 'dance music' is a bit of a dated label.
And who the fuck are you to say what "most people" do or don't call something? Since when did a majority of the British people give you carte blanche to represent them, or pronounce on their behalf?
More succinctly - yet again, you're talking shit.

And I might ask who you think you are to say who's 'massively behind the times.' We can't all be ex-public school slumming it in Brixton or whatever trendy place it is you live.

And I've said that alternative comedy went mainstream. That's one reason why there are so many unfunny comedians around. Real people still call it alternative comedy as well.

Oh what a surprise, U75s resident dullard realises he can't win against the "talking shit" line and goes for the cheap sneer.

Thank god for two-trick ponies like LLETSA, I say. there's no element of unpredictability. Or that dangerous "interesting spontaneity" stuff, no sirree

If that's the 'real people' you know, no wonder you never have anything remotely interesting or insightful to say

Haven't actually heard the phrase "alternative comedy" when it wasn't being used to describe something that happened in the 90's ...since the 90's.

You, on the other hand, are full of such startling insights as 'I prefer to think that we'll get socialism one day.' How can anybody compete with that?

I don't know what you're so indignant about anyway. Just look at the tone you've been using every time you've addressed anything to me in this thread.
