David Cameron: socialists have no sense of humour

I agree completely but was confused why people who post here found it to be bullying. Although in fairness the poster saying it hasn't been here that long. Perhaps s/he'll be shocked by things said here in due course too? :D

There is no bullying here. This is a pure equal opportunities website.

It is. :D

Seriously, he was definitely using a bit of old fashioned sexism to silence an opponent. My point was this: when you're at that level politically would a jibe like that even get to you? I highly doubt it. Labour just want to make capital out of it. Fair dos but i doubt anyone was genuinely offended.

He is human, and it definitely got to him. It's one of the few times I've seen him rattled and hence the fuss, immaculate showman lets his guard down for a second. To be honest, if I was in such a position, filmed all the time, I reckon I could slip up occasionally too. But, hey, it's not me, it's that cunt Cameron, and he got caught out. Always interesting.

Why all this blew up in the first place seems to be forgotten...Cameron was saying a GP who'd been an MP was defeated by the conservatives last election & Angela Eagle pointed out that Cameron was wrong, the GP had stood down before the election so Cameron did the whole calm down dear stuff. Basically Cameron was attempting to play down he'd got his facts wrong.

It is witty if your natural domain is bullying, Flashman-style behaviour. It's shouty upper-middle braying, toned down for public consumption.

Maybe Cameron's been reading this forum? It's not exactly the most friendly of places and most people seem to attach far too much significance on their own self-importance. It's difficult to have friendly banter on here because everyone takes themselves (and others) far too seriously.

Or maybe he's basing it on Bob Crow's appearance on Have I Got News For You?!

What Cameron actually means is "I equate offending and insulting people with being humourous, and being an incredibly arrogant and self obsessed tit I can only assume that of anyone objects to being insulted it must be because THEY have no sense of humour".

The only funny bit was where he called Harriet Harman a socialist.

Note that this is the Harriet Harman who used to get a kick out of the "Harriet Harperson" joke. Whatever her other faults (such as not being even remotely socialist), anyone who thinks she has no sense of humour clearly hasn't met her. Whereas Cameron is yet to say ANYTHING that has made me even smirk other than at his stupidity or arrogance.

Other groups of people with a widespread sense of humour failure:

Manchester United supporters (only a set of fans who genuinely believe their own hype could possibly sing 'we do want we want' with a straight face. Yeah, course you do; now don't forget to punch the clock Monday morning.)

Scousers: reasons obvious.

Russians: 'We suffered Stalin; enough said.'

FC United fans: like fans of the parent club but more self-righteous and po-faced.

Oh, and Poles: 'We suffered Russia and now we have the most cynical humour in the world; just listen to us joke about Auschwitz.'

shit, was about to make spirited defense of socialists sense of humour and fecking LLETSA of all people turn up : (

From what I recall of your posts on here and elsewhere, you are the perfect example of what I mean.
