Critiquing Oasis

Beatles fan here, but they broke so much ground so quickly, from tight harmonics and getting Hamburg wet to wholeome boy band breaking out to fucking all sorts of heartbreak beat songs. I'm probably being an attempted muso wanker, and although they got there on merit, they had all the best studio editing and mixing innovator heads soon to take them on. They were worth it and what they did hasn't been bettered. I love it to death but it's kind self-contained and limiting now. Do you know what I'm on about, because I don't.

I mean this is a rough sounding but again it's better than the Beatles. Why though? It's cooler? Fuck knows.

Next generation but you've got all sorts of Unit 731 atrocity survivors then this. Then the cigar chompers wouldn't like that.

Yes all good points. There was more scope for musical and lyrical weirdness in pop music in the nineties and noughties than in Dad/Lad rock in my book. Things like Missy Elliot's Get Ur Freak on, even Up and Down by the Vengaboys sound deranged compared to Toploader...
Remember when Melody Maker were trying to hype Toploader as this amazing revolutionary new rock band? Give me the Vengaboys any day. At least The Computer Song is entertainingly batshit (it's about a computer getting an STD). And there was far more exciting music around anyway, the late '90s/early '00s was a great time for British rock (I went through a period this year of listening to Cay's Nature Creates Freaks).

Britpop Bri mangled the lyrics to make them look shitter. But it was a bit:

at the time. Thought it was worse in the noughties.

Is Noel finally running out of Cash then? Perhaps he needs a stage (lol) now that he's no longer on Googlebox?

I'd be interested to see how much they are going to charge for tickets :D

I jest a little because although not a fan I do like a handful of their tracks. Got zero interest in seeing them live though.

Edited - I always get the two of them mixed up.

And why is this the top story on every fucking news programme? I've switched to Deutschlandfunk in desperation. If they mention it, I may hang myself.

Think it's Noel's bank balance that needs a boost, he's got a £20m divorce in the pipeline.

While Liam's just got two new hips from trying to walk like King Monkey his entire adult life, so if they're going to do it, could be now or never.

Not for me, saw them enough back in the day.

The thing that puts me off about Oasis isn’t so much the music (which up to a point I didn’t mind a bit back in the day). Instead it’s the sort of bucket hat / stone island knobbers who are attracted to them. Same for the stone roses. I imagine going to their gigs now as like being surrounded by a sea of cunts.

Recreate the gig at home for less by listening to the Beatles, sniffing shit cocaine and getting someone to throw a pint of piss over you intermittently

Yea but it's always been off the cards because Noel was refusing to rebuild bridges.
