arse.... even the posho waitrose / ocado don't have any...
:(
I won't be around next sunday either....

this place has them... if we want 18kg!!

edited: ooo actually they do it by the kilo too... will it be too late if I order now? grr it doesn't have delivery stuff on their site and the phone is an answerting machine.... shall I risk it?

edited again: ok I've made an executive jam making decision - I've ordered 6 kilos (some for the freezer innit?) I've found lots of nice recipes that keep saying buy them as soon as you see them as they are tricky to get hold of... right they are!

edited once more: they reckon they can courier them - heheh

If you have any further problems, I'm getting some on Friday from Riverford for my own private marmalade making session. I have to order by Wednesday evening for Friday delivery...

Oh well done Eme!!! Flipping A&C... she said they had had many more orders than they expected, so I guess that marmalade is "in" this season!

Thanks Ms T for the offer too - very kind!

I'm really glad we can still do it!

bless him...

Dear Eme,
Thank you very much for your order. It is being despatched today and will be delivered by ANC Friday. Hope you all enjoy making the marmalade!
Kind regards,
....

Miss P - was the pan we used to make chutney yours? can we use it again on sunday as I don't have a huge pan, and if Ruby doesn't make it we'll be panless!
(I guess we could always do it in two smaller pans?)

Eme.... I have a mahooosive pan... I'll bring it (unless told not to!) :)

I now have a *ton* of sugar (although i have enough oranges if you want to make more - someone will need to bring another 2kg of granulated sugar though)
What I don't have / know where to find is muslin - are there any alternatives suburban people?

See you tomorrow!

Didn't we just use some material when we made the jam? Or certainly at some point I've used some scrap material - for something like that. Honestly can't think where we'd get muslin on a Sunday morning in Brixton....

Do we have enough jars?

I put a post up on freecycle looking for muslin and got these two replies..

Making marmalade myself today and tomorrow. I don't bother with the
muslin for containing the pips; after you have boiled the mixture for a
while with the sugar in, it gradually becomes more dense as the water
evaporates, and the pips float to the top. You can then fish them out
with a slotted spoon. I know seville oranges have a lot more pips than
eating oranges, but I don't find it much trouble, and I always feel the
pectin is released from the pips more easily if they are allowed to
float around freely while the marmalade is cooking.

Just my two penn'orth. Enjoy making your marmalade. (And eating it!)

and...

Nowhere near you but just finished jarring up my own batch and cleaning up the inevitable mess (hence the late posting!)
In case the info's any use, I use fine-mesh net curtain. Works brilliantly, washes easily (I've used the same piece for 3yrs now) and doesn't clog as much as muslin can.
Just thought I'd mention it, in case you've got a square of that around.
Good luck with the marmalading!

(both options much more preferable to using the editor's underpants I think.. :) )

ok cool - I have about 8 jars (some quite small though) so bring any you all have along too...
x

That was cool! AND I realised there has been a craft club page crafted by Eme to show our wares on - I'm going to go and have a look at that.

And send my Dad some Maramalade. Will it keep forever this stuff????

I had some on my muffins for breakfast this morning. Very nice!

Can you do some blueberry jam next please?

:)

ooooh..... I just had some on hot buttered toast and I must say, I think it may be the nicest marmalade I've ever eaten!! :D

definitely! an all round success (especially as I had some on toast that had no pips) :D

can i come round and try some?;)

I'm having my own personal marmalade making session at some point -- you and jan are welcome to join me and share in the spoils.

I don't actually eat that much marmalade and tend to give most of it away as gifts.
