Yeah the term Classical only really applies to a very short era in orchestral music. Most of what's recommended on this thread isn't strictly "classical". Which is why I said "for want of a better term" further up the thread. But, yeah, Busch counts.butchersapron said:I've got a sneaking regard for Ernst Busch, the official 'liar' for East Germany - is this classical?
Ooh. That was "atonal my arse" a minute ago.montevideo said:as much as schoenberg. Posh kids only music?
Is what?butchersapron said:I don't think anyone is are they?

Do you like Copeland?

Is this all getting a bit disjointed? I sometimes get that, so it might just be me...

I like Schoenberg. Does that make me posh?
Well, there's the ting. Classical music ended with Beethoven. After that you're into "Modern" (Wagner etc).ernestolynch said:FFS - all I want is some education in classical music...
Petit bourgeoise? I don't hold that in the disdain you seem to.montevideo said:it was, but i changed it cos it sounded like i was having a go at you rather they our upwardly mobile petit-bourgesoise social climber.

Fanfare For The Common Man. You'll gave heard it, it's played all over. He was an American socialist, but his work has been appropriated by others.butchersapron said:I might, but sly could've been better (crap stallone joke over) - don't know because i've not heard anything by him, or even of him...
You don't need the "the" if you use "hoi"...ernestolynch said:okay i have been educated some. still though you know what i and the hoi-polloi mean, do you?
Might watch it more if they play Copeland. I thought it was all Eye of The Tiger...butchersapron said:Yep, know it very well - mainly from sport stuff (which you'll not like).
Philip Glass?butchersapron said:At arsenal it's 4:22 (don't ask mate...)
ernestolynch said:expand.............if you dare.............(got that pic of you using a 'power tool' labelled 'genuine northern working class man' handy - like you showed me last week?)

montevideo said:despite the thick veneer, bloated caricature & political shadow-boxing you are from the petit-bourgesoise. And despite the education, job & ever fragrant.. it's something you can't quite manage to lose. Just a thought like.
