Cardiff City 2014-2015

Well, they're not my team any more - Vincent Tan and the glory hunters saw to that - but it seemed odd not having a Cardiff thread here given as they were one of the reasons behind me starting the site.

Here's some gems of knowledge from Tan from earlier this year:

In an exclusive BBC Sport interview, the 62-year-old Malaysian businessman has even accused the British media of being "a little bit racist".

Tan, who upset Cardiff fans by changing the club's colours andsacking manager Malky Mackay, said the "vocal minority" who oppose him should "apologise".

Vincent Tan and Malky Mackay celebrate promotion to the Premier League

And he is adamant he will not quit unless supporters drive him out.

"One day we are a hero, another day we are a zero," Tan, who bought the Welsh club in May 2010, told BBC Sport. "Without me, Cardiff would have gone bust. Because of my investment, we got promoted."

In a rare interview, and speaking for the first time since sacking Mackay in December, Tan also said:
  • He has the backing of 90% of Cardiff fans
  • He will never change the club's colours back to blue from red
  • Mackay "got lucky" when he landed the job as manager
  • He is "convinced" manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will save Cardiff from relegation
  • Foreign owners are good for British football
  • Plans to list Cardiff on the Singapore stock exchange have been abandoned

Glad to see a simple title to this thread.

Sad its started off with the magnifying glass only the owner as per usual but on that vein:

Tan Cons:
Change d the shirt colour
Refused to to call the away shirt blue (royal indeed)
Put red seats in the new stand
Sacked a well liked manager

Tan Pros:
Travels great distances to attend a lot of games (some rich owners wouldn't bother)
Sunk a lot of money into the club
Built us a new stand
Saved us from administration

Owners come and go. The club is its fans to my mind. I'm still proud to call myself a Cardiff supporter and will still be here long after the latest in the long line of silly owners has been and gone.

Tan got Cardiff into the Premiership for one pointless season at the expense of changing the club's badge, colour and identity and angering some long term fans so much that they'll never come back to the team they've supported all their lives.

So I'd say his reign adds up to an almighty fucking black stain on the club thus far - and when he fucks off to wherever he came from you can wager he'll leave the club with a big fat debt - perhaps critically so.

I could be wrong but I think Asian attitudes to failure and face etc won't let him leave the club as a burning wreck.

Yesterday morning Kenwynne Jones 50/1 to be top league scorer, into tens by the evening. He could tear this division apart!

Good work, City fans. Fuck off Tan.

What a cunt, he's got the full sweep there - sexism, homophobia, racism, ant-semitism.

That odd-apology they both gave Tan seems to make more sense now. They likely knew he was waiting to drop this bomb.

He'll never work in football again. Good riddance.

I refrained from posting the link to the DM story, but they actually publish the texts!!!!

None of this stops Tan being the fucking cunt who destroyed Cardiff City for a lot of lifelong supporters.

Maybe not but the Malky apologists need to man up and admit they were wrong about the guy!

No one ever 'apologised' for these alleged racist texts. People only commented on his abilities as a manager and his commitment to the club and I see nothing to apologise about there.

From the Mail article...

These messages came to light after a dawn raid on Moody’s south London home in March this year, as part of Cardiff’s £750,000 investigation into eight controversial transfers.

They engaged London law firm Mishcon de Reya, whose investigators obtained a search order from the High Court to enter Moody’s house in Balham, seizing work computers and phones and taking electronic imagery of evidence.

They were investigating alleged wrongdoing related to one of these transfers.

Around 70,000 text messages and 100,000 emails were allegedly recovered, including the text and email exchanges that form the basis of letters sent to the FA by Mishcon de Reya, on behalf of Cardiff.

Under FA rules, Cardiff are required to report any matters which may constitute ‘aggravated misconduct’.

The letters to the FA make reference to the following alleged offensive communications between Moody, Mackay and others:

That's a heck of a lot of texts and emails.

Wonder who the 'others' are?

Terrible stuff. Won't ever manage in football again. And good fucking riddance.

But expect to him to surface at TalkSport within the next six months. Seems to be the final destination for bigots.

He sounds an utter cunt. Just another fuck up in the ongoing farce that is Cardiff City.
To be fair I don't think Malky's behaviour can reflect on City. In fact, and you may not like it, Tan should be applauded for outing him!

I appreciate that, but Tan came in for a lot if ridicule for sacking him, when it now appears he had every justification!

that's fair enough but why would ed not like a racist homophobic sexist dickhead being outed no matter who by?

which club outsiders only know now

To be fair MM played the fans for idiots getting them to side with him against Tan and postpone his sacking. I was asked on Boxing Day by a journal I have a fav with at halftime what I thought of Malky and I said didn't think he was whiter than white. Journal said if I knew the truth it would make my hair furl, but he couldn't write about it! Now we know why!
