car booty

YES, YES, YES..........got 100 promo's and assorted delights from a very *known* Detroit DJ for 200 bucks. Not gone through them all yet but already I am pleased. They are just duplicate tunes he had been sent by distribution companies. They seem on first sift to be from 1997-2010 mostly broken beat, jazz, deep house and techno. Also trying to get my hands on another box of lucky dip tunes from another distrubition source (fingers crossed)

Zee, are you still doing DJ mixes an' stuff down where you are now?

No longer promoting but I play out at friends parties and bars. I have played at a few clubs and on two radio stations but to be honest compared to London there is no real scene over here. Funny though there are tons of ex London DJ's so we all get together and have a laugh, play tunes etc. There are a couple of mixes on soundcloud under zeedoodles and zeedoodles1 and on mixcloud under zeedoodles. They are getting a bit old mind you probably about time I put up some new stuff.

OMG.....just picked up 170 lucky dip tunes from a distributor for 65 NZD about 20 quid English. Pick them up Thursday so not sure what I have got until then but he reckons they are House, Techno, Broken Beat and Down Beat from the past 10 years. Will report back with details. Amazing how many tunes some of these distributors have kicking around doing nothing.

TO UPDATE.........

Picked them up last night.
Out of the 170 probably going to throw away or sell as a bulk lot 120 ish
The rest are average to good lots of SVEK, 20-20 Vision a few Glasgow Underground a couple on Drop Music 2 on Pacific Records....you get the idea. So all in all not a bad deal. A few to keep a few that I already had that will make nice presents for friends and a bunch to sell. Still got to go through the 120 ish I just tossed aside there might be some as yet unknown gem in there (noticed a seal LP and a Depth charge LP with a plane on the front (not got or seen that before)

lucky bastard:cool:

you've reminded me - I need to sort my records, find the one that I wasn't sure about, that I know is worth something and try to flog it.

What's the best place that isn't ebay for selling records?

never heard that 'mine the rhythm' before:cool:

yeah got that one KB -In fact got all the after dark tunes, Dave Charlesworth used to knock out loads of classics back in the day!

Always proper ruffneck synth abuse tackle......:)

here is another one by him, worth a mention cos i found my copy on a car boot back in the 90s lol:)

Ahh, you got it, nice one! That it starts off with a Hawkwind/T-Rex/Alice Cooper medley is just... bizarre.

That track on Voodoo Party is very silly, isn't it... :D

Hair (1969) is the only other album I've got by him, and it's actually rather decent throughout (-and like the original Hair soundtrack, there are some breaks therein). I think Well Kept Secret is another sought after one, for the tracks and Bolero '75.

Probably really awful, but still, Non-Stop Dancing '82 has apparently got versions of Superfreak and ...er... Ghost Town on it! :hmm::D
Ultimately though, these are just the few better ones in amongst so very much utter cheese.

Let us end though, on a ...

picked up 'well kept secret' this morning. a good tip.

just listened to well kept secret, it's actually fairly sweet all the way through. disco version of gershwin's 'summertime' is ace. it's fairly easy, but with a decent funk edge.

big up james last. :D
