Burger Thread. Yes!

I use cashews in my pesto and I'm not eating much oil so i put a tiny slug of oil and some water in my pesto before blending. Then I topped the mushies with that before baking the lot. Cuts down on the garlic breath and they stay moist.

so long as it tastes good.... I have an aversion to 'large' mushrooms and especially baked ones (how can anyone bake them when they are a marriage made in heaven with butter??). Seriously, 'Thou shalt cook mushrooms only in butter' coulda been the 11th commandment (if you dont believe me, try when you are having a 'naughty' day...)

I went to a Chinese Burger King the other day and thought of this thread. I had an Italian burger which is basically a bacon double cheese burger with 'Italian' sauce. It came over a bit sharp and vinegary and not as good as a proper BDCB, which sadly wasn't on the menu. Also had a mango icy drink with pearls containing mango puree, the usual chips, and a free ice cream. I won't bother going to BK again any time soon, the idea is always better than the reality.

it's big mac sauce that makes big macs taste of mcdonalds

that flavour I'm on about exists throughout the maccy dees range. Even the fillet o fish has that crack-like tang

I'm not being horrible but do you register that awful kind of weird cold smell you get when you cross the threshold of a McBasstards? The only time I venture in McB's is for a piss.

Fair play for trying but why mess with chinese approximations of our crap when you've got all the proper chinese gig ready for freddy?

There is somewhere near me that includes candied bacon and peanut butter in their list of toppings, and krispy kreme doughnuts as buns :hmm:

I am playing safe and sticking with cheese...

I really don't get the whole donut as buns things. I know it's not in the spirit of this thread, but a nice burger isn't exactly short of kcals anyhow and I don't think I'd want something that rich.

I can imagine the first couple of bites being ok, the whole thing would be too much

I had a burger with peanut butter (and jelly) on recently. It was quite nice except they'd covered to and bottom internal bun sections in peanut burger which wasn't necessary.
Had an excellent burger from Honest today. The chips though, jesus, I could eat mountaind of their chips
Did you try the tobacco onion one? Presumably new special....

No, I was tempted by that and the Tribute one but when it comes to the war of the cheeses Stilton beat the American cheese. And I really wanted the unctuous, salty, savoury hit of Stilton to go with the sweet red onion and soft meaty burger goodness....

Oh god.
I need more!

First thing im going to do when shityjnr goes back to school is to there and eat five burgers.

Honest Burgers of London is the best I have ever had - partly for its stunning craftsmanship and perfect size. The rosemary fries are to die for.

It has, however, been matched by Bunsen of Dublin. I feel blessed. The love they put into these honest to God burgers is incredible (could improve the chips though...)

Wait Is that bobo? Or is that a new burger place on Wexford St? Love the minimalist attitude.

For the last 3 nights we've been having burger for tea. (6 for part of deal for a family pack of meat for 20e from a a butcher in limerick, 4 plain pork chops, 4 spiced pork chops, 6 burgers, two sirloin, and a roast chicken for 20e) The burgers aren't massive, and aren't tremendous, but I feel are superior to anything I'd get in a local restaurant.

Served on a ciabiatta, with rocke,t sliced emmenthal processed cheese, sliced gerkin, red onion, jalapeno relish, and american mustard).

I've found myself and my missus use em as a post dinner snack. With neither of us working at the mo we eat our dinner early with the child and have a snack before bed after he's asleep. A Burger is perfect.

I've been slowly working my way through a pack of Brioche buns...I know I'm really late to this party and wasn't expecting to like them that much, but my god are they nice. Even for bacon rolls in the morning. My waist line really doesn't need this. :D

I've genuinely not dared to even look for them.

Aldi do a Chocolate Brioche loaf, with which we use at weekends to make the most indulgent french toast that requires no condiment (no sauce, no powdered sugar, no syrup) just perfect in it's own with milk and and egg.

The only breakfast I want at the moment is a cheese bacon, and avocado roll.

="8den, post: 13325250, member: 30982"]Damn you I will look for them. And will charge my type two diabetes treatment to you.
No charge on the NHS *and* free prescriptions - happy days. Oh, wait..

I almost ate an octopus and kale burger last week, but was a bit put off by the look of it. Well hipster innit.

Octopus?
Nowt that swims has any place in a burger. And kale is next door to poison in my book. Someone on here convinced me to try it, saying it was nicer than Savoy cabbage. Sacrilege! It's muck of the highest order, on a par with okra and broad beans.
If I could remember who it was I'd follow them round on here and abuse them at every turn, the great festering git.

Octopus is well tasty and kale is the nicest tasting, nicest textured brassica of them all. But a tentacle in a bun with some greens is not a burger, agreed. A sandwich, maybe...

Perhaps. I am a kale evangelist. Dunno why it isn't as popular as candy floss.

Candy floss is shite, too.
Mind you, I spent an entire summer making it when I was a student. That bloody sugar gets everywhere. When I got home from my work and had a bath the water turned pink. :D

The latent scientist in me is quietly amused at a place called Bunsen that sells burgers.
But the part of me that's going to Dublin shortly is intrigued.
Southside though? Ooooooh. Might be risky for a long standing DNSer. I know Wexford St is only just on the other side of the river, but I am a creature of habit, deeply imbued in traditional lines of hatred and suspicion.
