Burger Thread. Yes!

Well, I almost forgot...how could I?! Managed to get a chance to hit The Burger Joint in Whiteladies Rd, Bristol the other day. Almost couldn't find it and was about to reluctantly hit Wetherspoons but out of nowhere it appeared a few doors down while I was crossing to get some cash out of the machine over the road.

The place? Nice, smart, cool, decent terrace which was apparently reserved (all tables) unless I could eat my burger within an hour..... ahem, I think that won't be a problem kind sir..

The price was £13 for a burger, with one topping (Montery Jack Cheese), three sauces (two are free), fries and a pint of Moretti. The wedges looked enormous and slightly overdone, and the sweet potato chips aren't my thing. Salad, obviously not so hence me going for the fries, which were damn nice and plentiful. I had ketchup and tarragon and lemon mayo on the bottom bun, burger relish on the top. The bun was a lightly toasted herb dusted number, which was excellent.

The taste? Well, one of the best damn burgers I've had. Juicy, well seasoned and an excellent standard of beef and toppings. Highly recommended. The lemon and tarragon mayo added a very nice twist.

Wow, this looks great! And that mayo sounds yum - an intelligent and subtle twist on normal mayo without tampering too much - actually was thinking about tarragon/ tarragon vingear today, and how I will make my own hollandaise sauce....wouldnt it be so ace to serve someone eggs benedict in bed, with homemade hollandaise??

but back to burgers, thanks for the review!!!

Got enough mince to make 4 burgers. Made two for dinner (one each for the wife and me) w/ oven fries. Then came back to discover the three legged dog ate a bun. So now tomorrow's lunch is fucked.

Burgers. (mince with salt and pepper) then cheese (swiss for me, cheddar for her) melted on top w/ crusty rolls, condiments (gerkin, red onion, rocket and tomato) a really really lush jalepeno relish makes any other sauce redundant.

I thought that was fried chicken.

I do quite like the idea of a good burger with fried chicken and bacon in it. Just wondering where I could get such a thing. :hmm:

What a beef burger with fried chicken and bacon on it?? That better not be what your implying my friend....

All the meat. Sounds like win to me.

The whole is less than the sum of its parts in this instance old boy, too many tastes and textures will muddy the whole experience, leave the abominable multi meat chimera of the burger realm to the fast food challenges and ill thought out pub promotions ;)

Never heard of the KFC double down?

Yes that is bacon and cheese in a fried chicken "bun"

Yes. Excellent idea for those crazy days where you just don't give a damn. But there's no beef in it. We were on about beef, chicken and bacon burgers.

There's also this monstrosity if you want to go all the way down silly avenue. The Land, Sea and Air burger. Deluxe. Quarter Pounder, McRib, Chicken burger and and Fillet O'Fish

I googled that and found myself on the #hackthemenu website.

I now want a Starbucks "liquid cocaine"

4 Shots Espresso
4 Pumps White Chocolate Syrup
Ice to fill in a Grande cup
Fill with Milk

How many flavours can you remember, off the top of your head? :)

Strawberry, melon, and lime.

Badgers - when i was 21 i drank anything and everything! 20/20 to me, was like a white wine spritzer, something to refresh in between Buckfast and pints....used to knock it back straight from the bottle, like an alkie (well, i guess i was one)
