Well, I almost forgot...how could I?! Managed to get a chance to hit The Burger Joint in Whiteladies Rd, Bristol the other day. Almost couldn't find it and was about to reluctantly hit Wetherspoons but out of nowhere it appeared a few doors down while I was crossing to get some cash out of the machine over the road.
The place? Nice, smart, cool, decent terrace which was apparently reserved (all tables) unless I could eat my burger within an hour..... ahem, I think that won't be a problem kind sir..
The price was £13 for a burger, with one topping (Montery Jack Cheese), three sauces (two are free), fries and a pint of Moretti. The wedges looked enormous and slightly overdone, and the sweet potato chips aren't my thing. Salad, obviously not so hence me going for the fries, which were damn nice and plentiful. I had ketchup and tarragon and lemon mayo on the bottom bun, burger relish on the top. The bun was a lightly toasted herb dusted number, which was excellent.
The taste? Well, one of the best damn burgers I've had. Juicy, well seasoned and an excellent standard of beef and toppings. Highly recommended. The lemon and tarragon mayo added a very nice twist.
Wow, this looks great! And that mayo sounds yum - an intelligent and subtle twist on normal mayo without tampering too much - actually was thinking about tarragon/ tarragon vingear today, and how I will make my own hollandaise sauce....wouldnt it be so ace to serve someone eggs benedict in bed, with homemade hollandaise??
but back to burgers, thanks for the review!!!
