Brixton news, rumours and general chat

That's interesting, that XR are providing this extremely useful information; hopefully awareness will be raised in new quarters.

Went to the new Nour for the first time and seems great, maybe a bit more space.

There was some sort of confrontation going on though with the police there and people accusing the staff of not supporting the local community. Anyone know anything about this?

Did a quick search and couldn’t find anything but apologies if I’ve missed a discussion. What’s going on in Brockwell Park with these things and all the big vehicles?!

Some strange event where people follow pretend images on their mobile phones, part of the 'Pokemon' brand.

Some strange event where people pay £32 to follow pretend images on their mobile phones, part of the 'Pokemon' brand.

It is running from 4th to 6th August. Not sure how extensive the ticketed area will be.

None of the park will be closed off apparently.

God - that’s horrible. At least they’ve been prosecuted and left the police. It doesn’t say what about the either police driver going at such speed as well.

I'm actually surprised she got three years. Being a copper and responding to an emergency call at the time. I'd have thought that would be mitigating circumstances enough to get a suspended sentence.

Anyone else noticed a massive increase in loud / fast motorcycles tearing up and down the main roads.
I've noticed it much more over the last year or so. I thought it might have been Deliveroo and Just Eat drivers, but it doesn't seem to be.

I think the Met have decriminalised it by default - inexpertly stopping a motorcycle is the sort of thing that might start a riot, so they don't bother.

Yes. Not just bikes but cars too with modified exhausts. Some pop like gun shots.

Lambeth have confirmed that they were not part of the noise camera trial and have no plans to be; are not monitoring road noise or recording complaints about it; and have no formal means for residents to make complaints or engage with them about it.
