Brazilian Jiu Jitsu thread

Enjoying that bit of the cycle where something clicks and you actually notice yourself improving atm :cool: Guard passing feels better and we've just started covering dlr/rdlr in class which fits nicely into my game.

One thing I really like here is we'll just focus on one position for maybe a month, still plenty of different techniques but enough repetition for it to sink in too. Plus we have a few classes just for drilling whatever you want. Anyone else do similar, or more random bits of whatever the person teaching that day feels like showing?
 
Hit the slickest back take ever in sparing on Tuesday. He asked me what i did and i replied that i didn't know! :confused: Need to set up a camera or something.
 
Nice! BJJ holiday or regular holiday that'll include some BJJ?

I'm planning on a couple of weeks training in either Brazil or Thailand this winter.

Strewth! And double strewth for no gi being 61.5kg. Guess that ties in with the MMA Bantamweight limit of 135lbs, which was the weight grappling industries use. You don't have to weigh in with a gi and the bloke behind me stripped down to his knickers!:D You can get a gi weighing less than 1.5kgs. :confused:

My weight gain after that has got me to around 62kg without a gi, 62.5kg will be perfect for Kleos.

I used to do that for NAGA :D Day before weigh-ins, in my pants, then rehydrate and stuff my face and fight about 3kg over weight :thumbs:
 
Just been to comp class and it was fucking brutal :cool: Sweep "games" that went on forever, two ten minute rounds to finish (while being shouted at for conceding points without actually killing yourself not to) and possibly something else in between that I'm too exhausted/traumatised to remember. Need to start doing that every week.
 
Some new chap white belt spazed and hurt my thumb last night. :mad: It had better heal before Rio where I'll get fresh new injuries! :thumbs:
 
iona - you leg locking yet?

Keep noticing heel hooks then remembering I'm not allowed to heel hook in gi and getting fucked up coz I stopped to think :facepalm::D Not even looked at the Danaher stuff yet, self-banned from laptop other than for some work I need to get done
 
Just incase people think I'm a bitch. My thumb finally bruised on Saturday after getting hurt on Tuesday. I taped it up and spared Thursday and Saturday.

It was interesting trying to spar with one arm. Managed to sub some white belts but got mauled by a blue who I usually have good competitive spars with (he usually gets the better of me but I've got him a few times!)

Those with good eyes will notice it's still attached so good to go. :D
 
First week lifting after Monday morning no gi as well as Friday before work. Felt good (new squat 1rm :cool:) but the real test will be how broken I feel tomorrow / after a few weeks...
 
What a week that was! Probably had the partying side unbalancing the Jiu Jitsu, ho hum! Got to spar with some legit people, will be interesting to see how training in the UK goes on Tuesday.
 
I got caught with a loop choke when passing today and ended up in lala land.
As I was passing, I knew what he was attempting to do.
I was about to change base and too late.
Never been unconscious like that before.
One minute I was rolling, then I thought I was in my bed, listening to music.
Open my eyes to my coach calling my name.

Disorienting.
Thankfully, I didn’t pee myself.
