Not sure it's expanding as much as they'd like - tickets haven't sold out so far
I aint the person to ask I'm afraid! How does your mate feel about working?
Daily capacity this year is 38000, up from 30000. They're using new parts of the Matterley Estate for the new areas I believe, so I wouldn't read too much into the non sell out just yet. The new capacity may well have affected the number of crew blags and I'd imagine that greater site infrastructure (new gates on the outside, new stages on the inside) mean budget pressures elsewhere. Tap water will obviously be available and given the obvious environmental issues with bottled and the organisers' keenness to keep the place tidy and litter costs down (see also the excellent eco bond), bottled water for crew seems an unnecessary expense.
A lot of festivals are declaring war on plastic bottles these days. It's a Good Thing.

I believe Oxfam are still looking - 3x8 hour shifts between Thursday and Monday. Obviously need to be sober/together for the shifts but you get one meal per shift worked and the people are mostly lovely. With cheapish (but long) national express buses, she's willing to do it. And willing to work. What is there still going or who else could we contact dya know?
I don't have a £200 deposit, though I am an excellent steward. If I had £200 spare for a month or two i would have cunningly bought a ticket.I believe Oxfam are still looking - 3x8 hour shifts between Thursday and Monday. Show up and don't be a twat and deposit money gets refunded as well. Up to you/her, obviously it's not ideal nor to everyone's taste but if she wants to go and for it to (eventually) be a free ticket...
Obviously I speculate a little but I don't think I'm a million miles off.U
I think the environmental message was spoken thus "fuck off and use a tap".
By the end of the festival the eco-bond people have often run out of money, so bond my arse. There should be cash waiting for each one.
Also.... No crew food for artists, not even the day they play, down from feeding everyone a few years back. Pitch prices that not only cost more than the main drag at glastonbury but doubled last year, ticket prices have doubled in three years, and only those who were found under a cabbage patch yesterday would believe that any of the big JA acts have actually been booked...
That said I'd still love to go one more time, and I'd be happy to work. I can't afford to steward though.
Boomtown are also recruiting their own volunteers for the weekend, for stewarding, bar work and other stuff. Deposit a bit more than the Oxfam one thoughWith cheapish (but long) national express buses, she's willing to do it. And willing to work. Oxfam deposit for Boomtown is £156I don't have a £200 deposit, though I am an excellent steward. If I had £200 spare for a month or two i would have cunningly bought a ticket.

Ticket prices this year are £110/£135/£150 depending on the tier you bought. Even at the top price that compares really really well with others for what you get. Adult weekend ticket in 2011 was £93 so you may have misremembered the prices back then. The festival is way bigger/fancier/better than it was then and given the festival loyalists are likely to have bought early on for the lower prices, I think they're doing quite well.
Issues around food and pitch prices I don't know of so I'll have to take your expert opinion on that.
Eco-bond: I imagine they're wary of having so much cash in a known location at any one time so possible they did run out before replenishing. They messed up last year by handing the bond tickets out on the gates after people had been wristbanded so some people got missed. Problem solved by emailing them with the tickets this year, though I'm sure some people will mislay them and feel hard done by as a result.

Excellent, nice oneForgot about the deposits for working... I think now we've found her cheap (but LOOOONNNG) travel - bus to scotland via feryy then right down to southampton :-s, and another mate is offering a hundred quid ticket so we've another recruit.
Cheers though JTG I reposted on a few other mates who might be interested
Well doneThe mafia have the right idea running waste management- there were so big queues for the ecobond place and people needed to head early coulnt be arsed waiting, I was going down the back of the queue and buying peoples eco bonds and bags for a 5r. They get instant money, I stand in a queue for hours with loads of rubbish and I'm a 5r up. Repeat loads and there's enough for a few rounds in the airport bar on the way home...

Heh, how'd ya get several? On the gates, found on the floor, what? Again, emailing them out this year should ensure all but the most clueless have oneI doubt there were many 'tier 1' tickets available, or tier 2 for that matter. however, boomtown is clearly worth £150.
Ive noticed they are doing special £5 meals on most of the stalls this year, or something to that degree. maybe that will give the stalls more business? certainly as a punter I like the sounds of it.
Those eco bond tickets were great. I got several and left the festival with half my ticket money refunded!
True, and well done Boomtown for rectifying the foul up this year by making sure everyone has one before they arriveI wouldn't brag about it. Lots of people paid for those, weren't given an eco bond ticket and didn't get their tenner back.
Took me about half an hour between picking up cans at Arcadia in the sunshine to collecting my tenner. Piece of pissI was cheeky and asked for a couple of extra at the gate, then a few people gave me theirs for whatever erason. There was no queue when I went on Sunday either.
I don't see why they don't just give a couple of quid per bag, forget about the bond? The Eco bonds are a pile of fuck. I took four people in my camper van last year, not a single one of us got given a fucking Eco bond ticket.
