Boomtown 2013 8th-11th August

So who else is going this Friday then? Urbanite meetup? Or is it doomed by being based in Bristol, the place where Urbanz never meet?

Are you in Bris already Yetman? This Boomtown Equinox party (Fri 22nd March) did sell out a good while ago yes, but I reckon it might still be worth getting online and asking around, also maybe turning up and seeing if there's any spares near the door tomorrow evening etc.

ETA : although judging by that chat thread on that motionbristol link, there's plenty of demand for tix already ... good luck anyway.

Gerry -- will definitely text you tomorrow afternoon, we'll be on the train to Bristol tomorrow for sure and we have our hotel booked. Last I heard from paolo999 was that he'd be along too, but he hasn't confirmed yet. Other Urbs further back said they'd most likely be along -- eg JTG and spacehopper and RaverDrew I think. Probably others but not sure ...

Yeah I'm in Bristol, not that bothered I suppose, I've got loads of nights out planned this month so could do with staying in for a weekend (and that'd be a messy one!) :)

Not sure who else (gerryonetime aside  ) was at Friday's shenanigans in Bristol.

Had a pretty good time, the Skints were particularly good. Enjoyed Congo Natty and Gentlemans Dub Club also. Sound quality generally excellent with plenty of bassline on all systems.

We didn't last much after 3 am though, by then the venue, despite being huge, was getting seriously ramajam packed (didn't help that it was pouring down most of the night), and the bouncers inside were starting to get overbossy.

Could have done with better beer/cider choice too. Boomtown's former 'Recydrate the West' ancestry ;) is now dead -- no actual scrumpy to be found ...

But overall I'm glad we went, enjoyed it loads for most of the time we were there.

Most likely a one off for us though.

Same thoughts as William really. It was fun, but the security was massively overbearing imho, especially once the 'one way system' kicked in. I nipped out to the loo during Gentleman's Dub Club, and it took me the best part of half an hour to get back in, as security were sending me round the houses each time. One even admitted at one point that the 'one way system' was running in opposing directions at different doors, and that they were as confused as the rest of us. Never did manage to find William or his good lady again.

It was fun whilst it lasted, but with all that high visibility security presence, it felt a bit too much like 'organised fun' at times. Hope Boomtown itself isn't hit by the same problem this summer.

The Skints were ace though, props to Mr W and lady for their recommendation of them. Will definitely look out for them again.

anyne any idea when you need to pay the remaining half of your ticket by?

also, full line uo out today- body shop looks tasty, outside agancy, current value, producer, loftgroover and the sect amongst others

plus iration stappas vs channel one

don't see any hip hop though, but stoned do probably not just looking hard enough

oh, and quite a few decent acts on the arcadia stage- as cool as it looked last year the lineup for it was a bit pish

A few decent hip hop acts, Problem child (dabbla), Foreign beggars, and the high focus records lot (Dirty dike etc).. I'll probably look to be catching all those three! (if not stewarding)

eta: Buggsy

I'd heard they were playing but didn't see em on the bill.

hopefully the garage is back this year too

i'm not 100% I can go- got to submit my thesis 6 weeks after :-S plan is to submit a near final draft to my supervisor before I go, leave it with him for a wrrk or so and do corrections when I comeback. bit of motivation anyway. depends on whether I've a job lined up got after it too

**fingers crossed** and hopefully no disasters this year- one of our crew arrested within 3 hours of getting there, no mates taking dabs of 4=ho instead of base  but :D now and no mates taking loads of whizz n mdma then a strip of zoiclone and etzies to try and sleep but just ended up blooping out/ freaking out instead of being unconscious, no trips to medical tent

it sounds awful, but one of the things that would put me off going is how many people I know from here going... it'll be like bangface last year, just everyone I know transplanted somewhere else for the weekend. plus, loads of them are melters!

at least at b'town there's TONS of stuff to go off n do on your own

See, I'm the opposite. I may well be flying solo for this boomtown, so would love an urbanite camp if there were one. Still not 100% I'm going, but that's largely due to not wanting to do it alone.

Im sure I can put my organising hat on and try to arrange something :) something slightly more successful than last year :D
