Boomtown 2013 8th-11th August

@sim667 what you applied to do at it'? One of those wee mini venues, yeah?

Yeah, id been procrastinating for so long though, and 1st idea was well out of my creative range, I'd need an artist collaborator, which I dont have, and the second had kind of been semi done, so went onto my third idea.

it was never legal to sell if you knew it was being inhaled anyway, I think. That's how it stands at the minute afaik. Just seem to be a lot of festivals that have 'no nos' in the T&Cs.

I'd say you'd need to know someone 'on the inside' though to get in huge quantities, at least a qty to make it worth your while) Had no problem buying it at Boomtown this year, although it wasn't just as widespread and done a bit more discreetly. It was EVERYWHERE aT Bangface too, and have bought it from cooking plaves ssince
The cannisters are a right fecker to clean up too.

You must look like a tourist.
:p
oi!
what jtg said basically, i forgot what with the other stuff i was concentrating on ;) and it was a fair cop, security bloke was 'you know i'm going to have to take these' and i was like 'yeah dude totally forgot about them maan'
my fault

I can't afford to get a ticket until either my JSA sanction appeal is sorted, or I get some work. But I'll be there whatever. NOTHING will stop me !!!

Btw if anyone has any links for crew or work place there, then please pm me :)

just trying to sort meself out a crew ticket now!!
Only way I;ll be able to afford it tbh. Sort of vaguely on it but been really busy.

And me, I'll do most things tbh.

If it comes to it, I will sell my body (to either medical science, or perverts) to make sure that I'm there !!!

The ticket deposit scheme
The deposit scheme works for those who do not have all the cash up front, and so instead are able to pay a deposit and pay the remanding balance by 9th July.

Press release:

BoomTown Fair: A Tale of Many Cities...

Fair Divided into Different Districts for 2013!

THURDAY 8th – SUNDAY 11th AUGUST 2013

MATTERLY ESTATE – WINCHESTER

BoomTownfair.co.uk

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness...” Charles Dickens, (1859)

The lunacy of BoomTown Fair is back for 2013! With a new approach to the city planning, more outlandish activities and jubilant adventures in the pipeline, the BoomTown ball is well and truly rolling! With numerous distractions to keep even the most eager of Boomers occupied throughout the cold winter months, including The Equinox Ball and the start of the inaugural BoomTown Election campaigns; the official countdown to the festival has begun, so boot up and strap in, we’re in for one almighty ride...

BoomTown 2013 will see an unprecedented festival event, Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the inaugural BoomTown Elections, scheduled to coincide with the annual Fair from 8th – 11th August 2013. Ever since BoomTown received city status last year, the new city has flourished and prospered with a steady influx of new settlers from all over the globe, resulting in the birth of new districts including; El Barrio Loco and ChinaTown. The old areas haven’t escaped the tides of change either, with a hoard of Pirates conquering Oldtown and the restoration of the ancient temple (The Lion’s Den) along with the discovery of its lost people, the City is bursting at its seams and something must be done! (for more details visit the BoomTown Website.)

Each district, both old and new, has a distinctive personality and prominence to the townsfolk and tourists of BoomTown; due to this, cracks amongst the community have begun to show and BoomTown’s Mayor had no other option but to split the city and give the people the choice to align themselves with their preferred district by giving each resident the power to decide on who their representative within the Town’s Council will be...

The time is nigh to pick allegiance and choose a district to be part of in this fully immersive action-packed game of tribal warfare! Each district will have a selected dress code, all camp together and have dedicated music genres for devoted dancing and debauchery! This is not an election to take lightly, maximum voter turnout is required and BoomTown’s future depends upon it! Over the next few months electoral debates, candidate interviews and councillor choices will all be unveiled. Keep an eye on election fever and make the votes count via the facebook page

“With the festival expanding in size and exploring more and more genres over the past few years, we wanted to express our ongoing mission for everyone who enters our crazy world to become a character in the ever unfolding story of BoomTown. The idea is to provide a fully interactive, totally immersive and the ultimate in escapism at an event that is all about the people attending, their experience and how they want the festival to develop. We can’t wait to see this idea unfold and to collaboratively create a unique experience, never seen before on this scale in the UK”

Lak Mitchell and Chris Rutherford, BoomTown Fair Directors

Take a stroll through BoomTown’s districts and get to know their current councillors and clannish dress codes...

ChinaTown (Flavour from the Far East, jam packed with mystical mayhem and oriental oddities)- Ms. Kikuya aims to tackle the problems of the addiction to the intoxifying experience of visiting the area by employing a troupe of law enforcing Kung Fu monks to keep the peace.

Dress Code: Geisha, Ninja, Oriental

El Barrio Loco (Favela fantasies are abundant in this smoking hot corner of BoomTown) - the province of Ms. Burrita Jose promised to promote tourism and trade with a 'Day of the Dead' Carnival and instigate a training programme so that tourists may achieve the stamina to keep up with the area's hard partying.

Dress Code: ‘Day of the Dead’, Latino
Mayfair Avenue (prosperous and decedent with the Gentleman’s club, Casino, Bank and high end establishments), husband and wife councillor team Mr and Mrs Fitz-Sloane pledged to uphold the area's exclusivity by preventing their wayward daughter from holding any more raucous parties, keeping the riff-raff out and ensuring that 'the right people' were invited to their famed and fancy electro-swing dances.

Dress Code: 1920s, Top hats, Glitter and Glam

Holditdown Town (chilled out family friendly area where silliness is the law and hemp is the order) - The Flowerpot Family combine to make the current council representation. They rule with a fist of daisies, sitting around, chilling out and training visitors the dedicated art of enjoying wholesome fun and family friendly activities.

Dress Code: Hippy Chic

TrenchTown (the roots and reggae Mecca sent from the Gods) – BOSS announced that as councillor he’d continue the bass-driven tranquillity deep inside the most beautiful spot of the jungle, The Lion’s Den! Proud of his tribal roots, he’s set out to encourage a daily dance to be enjoyed by all. Putting a hefty weight of his council budget into restoring the temple in time for The Fair to ‘shell dun di place’ like never before!

Dress Code: Tribal, Jungle, Aztec

Oldtown – (the dusty, rusty area of BoomTown where things ‘were better in my day’ and pirates are pirates because they aaaarrrrrrr...) Cap'n Francisco intentions as councillor are to catch those scurvy dog pirates and make them walk the plank, introduce a daily rum ration for all and find that notorious buried treasure!

Dress Code: Pirates and Pensioners

DownTown (seedy underbelly of BoomTown, home to alien invaders Arcadia, The Body Shop and many more social deviants...) - reformed gangster Charlie Brown vowed to use his influence to keep his former cronies on the straight and narrow and quash alien terrorist groups.

Dress Code: Pimps and Hoes

To get involved and become part of the BoomTown crew, applications for just about anything are open via the website: http://applications.boomtownfair.co.uk/

I've got a ticket, but I've put a venue app and a work app in as im not that confident in the venue app....

Ill sell the ticket if I can work, as I like getting hands on and learning stuff...... working set up would be ideal.

Also doing the sound for one the chaps that apparently helps set up the bodyshop next weekend, so we're going to try and impress him too. :)

Hey Folks - We wandered if you guys could let us know what acts you might want to see in the town centre 2013, we have currently booked a pretty mental line up but there are a few gaps that we wanna fill with absolute corkers!!!
We asked on our FB page the other day and not alot of suggestions other than the obvious so thought we may have a better response on here.
Remember this is the town centre, so we are looking for live jump-up fun acts ..... not acts for any of the dance stages !!! xxx

Also, this lot play live you know :)
