Boomtown 2013 8th-11th August

oh I really want to go to this having seen the reviews. gaijinboy does not like festivals but I suspect gaijintoddler would LOVE it. Need to decide whether to punt for a weekend "off" or persuade him that we should go as a family.

and if so, what/where..tiers.. etc..???

suppose I'd better actually look at the website.

we can make a village and we can be neighbours!

oh! do you mean the other thing rather than boomtown itself? :D

Currently both! Whether I end up doing both will remain to be seen, but that's the plan at the moment anyway.

For the actual festival in august, not just the equinox party, does anyone know what ID checks will be like at the entrance? It'll be my first year at boomtown and while my group will all be 18 at the time, we really don't want to take passports etc in case of theft...on the website it seems pretty strict but is that actually put into practice?

Normally checks aren't that strict, but if any of you's look under 18 it would be an idea to take something.

Personally I'd get the group to take something, but when you book your tickets, book one of those secure lockers for personal items between you and just lock all your passports etc in there. They're 24 hour and I didnt see any queues for them last year.

Also dont forget you might need ID for the bars.

Alternatively you could look into what forms of ID are acceptable, and if they'll anything like citizen cards, you could get those.

Hey Folks - We wandered if you guys could let us know what acts you might want to see in the town centre 2013, we have currently booked a pretty mental line up but there are a few gaps that we wanna fill with absolute corkers!!!
We asked on our FB page the other day and not alot of suggestions other than the obvious so thought we may have a better response on here.
Remember this is the town centre, so we are looking for live jump-up fun acts ..... not acts for any of the dance stages !!! xxx

Bands: Galanastra, The destroyers (not george thorogood and the destroyers, the destroyers from brimingham), Chancery blame and the Gadjo club, ska cubano. I dunno if someone like the backyard babies are a bit too metally, but I could see them going down well too.

I know you've said no electric acts, but what about some crossover stuff, I saw Atari Teenage Riot last year, and I have to say it was the best show I've seen in years....... I'd love to see some more of that type of thing at boomtown, obviously places like the body shop are too small for them though (I mean physically too small to fit them all at the front), so they need to be on stages. Just a thought, I imagine I might be alone in this.

Edit: Kunt and the gang, to bring some juvenile humor to proceedings.

How's about...

Any of you who are going to the Boomtown Equinox malarkey in Bristol on Fri 22nd March, see you all there basically  :)

I've booked the TravelLodge already, and I'll be buying the actual party tickets when we're in Bristol for the day this coming Friday.

Xmas present for festivaldeb! :) :)

The next bangface is on the same night, so I might well sell my ticket for this if anyone wants it.

Its a case of £22 ticket, £58 hotel, £15 parking, £50 petrol and whatever I spend over the weekend (boomtown) vs £13 and a train fare (bangface)

I'm with Sim on atari teenage riot, reckon they'd go down a treat.

how about some live hip hop, like the roots or something?

what sim said about getting lockers- they're not huge but would easily store your group's passports, phones, keys, return tain tickets etc. and worth it between a few people. .

or these kinda things are well handy for your passport, cash you don't want in your wallet, ipod, other small 'valuables' etc, which would be good if you needed ID for the bar all the time

You can fly with citizen cards so I reckon they'd be sufficient. http://www.citizencard.com/ only £15 if you don't need it urgently, and then only 9 quid to renew it thereafter

@sim667 what you applied to do at it'? One of those wee mini venues, yeah?

I dunno what boomtown's like for this sorta thing but a mate of mine gets into Electric picnic free every year by dressing up like a a fairy and 'pegging' people/ handing out 'wishes' written on paper/ card attached to a clothes peg covered in glitter etc. She just danders about EP sticking em on people and chatting shit. She's supposed to do so many hours over the weekend, but that#s no big deal since its really and quite fun.

She was doing it at boomtowm this year too, just off her own back for the craic. Dunno if that sort of thing would get you a boomtown ticket though (she didn't bother trying to get it free this year)

Or NOS, or well, almost anything else ;) . Know anyone going somewhere with duty free fegs/ baccy? always a money maker at fests. 200 mayfair cost me 7 euro in andorra, was selling em for 5 euro- they were 5.50 at the kiosk and just went down the back of the queue to give people conenience. Lots of £££

Me & our lass want to do this but completely forgot about the early bird tickets. What's the current situation?

if u look on the site it will say what tier is available
also whether the pay some now pay rest later is avail

afaik
you can't sell NOS legally like you used to

it was never legal to sell if you knew it was being inhaled anyway, I think. That's how it stands at the minute afaik. Just seem to be a lot of festivals that have 'no nos' in the T&Cs.

I'd say you'd need to know someone 'on the inside' though to get in huge quantities, at least a qty to make it worth your while) Had no problem buying it at Boomtown this year, although it wasn't just as widespread and done a bit more discreetly. It was EVERYWHERE aT Bangface too, and have bought it from cooking plaves ssince

If you get searched and they find it, they'll confiscate it

Not everyone gets searched. Depends on luck n shit
