Boomtown 2012

yup! wondering how it can be topped tbh.

btw anyone know why the 'meet' and flag was by the tables bit not by arcadia when we were alledgedly meeting by the biggest bar by arcadia which was the spaceport?
there were a few urbs there but the rest appeared to go and meet somewhere else

Didn't realise that the spaceport was a bar, as it wasn't marked as such on the map!

i spent about 2 hours sitting , leaning outside the spaceport, gurning my tits off on saturday morning / afternoon to the echos of
' mate i want some of what youre on '

thinking I needed a drink , and didnt realise it was a bar until youve just said it  :D :D

wow - amazing amount of urbs up for it this year! out of so many amazing festivals can't believe you have all chosen to come to us !!! really hope you like it !! will certainly try and make the meet up as well, soooo the Arcadia bar is called the 'Spaceport' and looks like an old smashed up railway station FYI its an ideal venue to meet before Arcadia kicks off at 6pm each day ! so keep with that choice,
Anyway the site is looking amazing..we have listened to every single comment from last year and are confident this show will be quite literally ... mental ... cu you all very soon !

was there a bar where the tables were?

anyway, too late now! and i should've ran after ed et all when they moved off

Even assuming they seized as much as 10% of all the drugs there (which seems highly unlikely) that'd imply there was £1.3 million worth of drugs there. Assuming a more likely seizure rate of, say, 5%, that'd be £2.6million. Which would work out at £520 per punter. Explains the massive queues for the cash machines...;)
I came, I queued, I ketted...

Memories are coming back to me....

- There was a mobile 'jailhouse' that moved around the site where you could get on and dance...
- There was a 'photo booth' where you could go in with a bunch of mates, dress up and hold some fluffy toy kittens and a giant cat's head and have your photo taken!!?!
- There was a 'graveyard' which had gravestones with writing on them like "Tragically mauled by rabid badgers" and "I told you fuckers I was ill" etc. You could have your own funeral where they would put you in a coffin, lower you in to the ground and bury you!
- Abandoned burnt out cars which you could sit in, chill out and skin up
- A 'bank' where DJs played whilst a daily money-laundering game happened with fake £50 boomtown notes handed out to the crowd
- Far too much more to remember....

Will put some photos/videos on when I get it sorted...

it's not really that bad, I am only cringeing cos I KNOW, I only dance at all if I am totally spannered  I make my way forward from 2 mins 20 ish. Those lights are a very effective way of spotting myself in crowds :D I predict next year a lot more people will be glowing heh

Ha ha I watched that yesterday and just knew that was you !!! :D

I can't believe after banging on and on and on to everyone all weekend about seeing Sicknote in the woods, I never made it there  just glad I caught their other secret gig, thanks to stuff it

I watched it a second time earlier and realised that you hear me over the fucking mic  just as I get close you hear my go Ooooh hiyaaa shagg! and then me mumbling on about spotting him from the back  always dreaded the day I saw myself spangled on video lol. Guess I can stop worrying now :D

could anyone be an absolute diamond and scan or take a pic of the timetable please? I wan't to try and retrace my steps! From what I remember the middle few pages of the programme had the listings for all the stages but I lost mine (then found one then lost one etc).

Hahaha, that's my Dalek. First Boomtown for me so wasn't sure what to expect, and i have to admit i was a bit of a State by Sunday. Reckon they should book me again for next year but commission a massive sculpture for the start of the Fest, then i'll only need to do repairs through the weekend. Was brilliant, and Dalek had a great time. Lost him at midnight Sunday when i gave him to some random girl. Nice that he made it up to the main stage by himself. :D

Have to confess I'm feeling well jealous :( of those who got to this, especially after looking at Tort and editor's excellent pix!

Real shame to hear about tent thefts, that and location (pretty distant for us) the only real offputting factors -- most else seems absolutely great, Arcadia especially, and the whole thing seems to have expanded a fair bit since the one and only time we went in 2009.

Over the Boomtown w/e we went (as a one off) to that ancient festival vets' retirement home,. Cropredy, which was thoroughly enjoyable in completely different ways, but with a lot less going on ...

What. A. Festival. :D

They top it EVERY year - can't wait to see what they have in-store for us next time! Though am gonna have to do the one-dayer in Dec first
whats that rev? could you post a link? I couldnt find one... im not really cut out for 3 days festivals (anymore) - one day is plenty for me
