Birkbeck university

I got a childish thrill out of ringing the number of the ejected phone and seeing a little blue light coming on, far, far away in the darkness! :)

Had the first night of my course last night. Nice people and I think it's going to be good fun. The other singers all seemed to be about the same standard as me (very proficient amateur, I'd call it!) so that's a good sign.

Although it was a bit weird seeing all of *you lot* in my humble college bar...
I had only intended on popping in for one drink but somehow ended up very, very sozzled.....

Looking forward to the next one :)
Onemonkey, you better leave your mobile out of my reach next time heh? :p

little edge and I finished that part time psychology degree this summer.. it is fantastic. so much so that i've quit my job and in two weeks i start a full time psychology ph.d. at Birkbeck :D

so i will probably be one of your stats demonstrators  ;)

Heh. Mangakitten is now doing a full time PhD at Birdbeak and being a stats lecturer :D

I'm still doing a Masters there. Anyone else? u75 drink in the not as shit as it used to be bar?

I think Birkbeck sounds really good allowing people to study part time in the evenings. Top! We could really really do with something like that up here in Manchester. Im sure Greater Manchester could sustain a night school type uni. Maybe they could start one off offering popular courses like law and accounting and then after a few years add in some social sciences and arts stuff.

Shevek xx

I think where Birkbeck really excels is that the whole uni is geared up/understands the majority of people are working full time and studying in the evening and accomodates that.

I did my degree there but never socialised really - was too bloody knackered after a full day at work and 3 hours of seminar/lectures.

They also manage to get really good people as lecturers because the evening classes leave them free to do whatever in the day, which is pretty appealing, so I've been told.

*waves*

I'm in the second year of a 'Discovering London' course at Birkbeck. Don't really do the socialising thing much what with having to get back to the wilds of Berkshire before they raise the drawbridge for the night...
