Benfica threatened with suspension of up to three years

Benfica have been charged by the Portuguese Government's equivalent of the Prosecution Service with trying to 'infiltrate' and get access to information within the legal system regarding investigations into their club and rival clubs. Two court clerks have been suspended and the Portuguese FA is to start its own inquiry. Very serious charge however the Portuguese legal system is notoriously slow and it will remain to be seen what or if there are final charges.

Portuguese club football is fucking crazy. First the Sporting Lisbon incident and now this.

Actually maybe it's just the football in Lisbon. Too many late nights in Bairrio Alto maybe.

The Sporting Presidency elections are due very soon , one of the candidates has promised to bring in John Terry!

Presumably one of the unsuccessful candidates. ;)
John Terry to join Spartak Moscow in surprise two-year deal

Off topic, that's quite a leftfield move for Terry. Presumably the most high profile club he could find, but even so he's missed the deadline to be in their squad for the Europa League. Also, from their point of view it's all about shirt sales - after being let go by Villa, he's presumably no longer good enough for a 1st team place?

Thats was Rodrigues who promised Terry which is probably why Varandas won. Not sure where Rodrigues ended up but Varandas got a hefty 42% of the vote. His first job will probably be getting legal advice about the 11m euro compensation claim from Mihajlovic the manager the board sacked after getting rid of the former President.
Spartak lost one of their defenders with a cruciate ligament injury ,transfer windows closed , Terry was a free agent and in need of £1.8m a year.
