Avoiding meat and dairy is ‘single biggest way’ to reduce your impact on Earth

You don’t have a valid rationale for not eating meat, other than personal preference.
I'd rather animals didn't die for my plate and am capable of surviving without them being slaughtered
If that's not a "valid" rationale for you then it's your issue and you can fuck right off

Fine but you’re crticizing others for making different choices, typical veganizing behaviour which is basically vego-fascism.

oh man get a fucking grip
why aren't you happy with your choices and so fragile?
If defending my choices are hurting your feelings and feel like criticism then maybe stop reading the thread and carry on with your life

Sorry my Dealing With Advanced Whataboutery quota has run out.
It's an important and relevant question. Personally, I value human lives over animals, and given that you obviously abhor cruelty to animals, and actively avoid animal products, I was wondering if you extended that same courtesy to humans and products born of human suffering. I guess I'm just wondering if you value animals over humans, as it would help me better understand your position.

I’m fine with my choice thanks. You’re the one who is criticising. Carnist ffs, get a grip.:D

We're 'carnists' because our diets are an ideology, the counterposition to 'veganism', which for some is not just a diet but also an ideology.

Those of us who reject this idea are wilfully blind to our own ideology. We're in denial, and hence prickly to criticism. In a word: fragile.

And after clinching the Whataboutery award you've followed up with an impressive WTF Strawman.

Shall we be discussing the personal ethics of space exploration next? It's hard to keep up with your rambling, off topic excursions,

Nonsense. If I eat a squirrel from my garden there’s a lot less of those things involved than if I eat an avocado from Peru, or indeed most other kinds of food.
Awesome comparison dude. Still it's great to see the Return Of The Avocado. The foodstuff that more meat eaters than veggies eat.

Blistering argument!

There's a lot of odd thinking on this thread. For a start, there's no such thing as places where you can 'only graze sheep'. If you didn't graze sheep the land would not simply disappear but would be a haven of various grasses, heathers, hardy shrubs and forest, attracting all sorts of animals and insects. Livestock are not the only animals that fertilise the soil, reducing the need for chemical fertiliser. I think we can all be a bit human-focused about this stuff sometimes and forget that land needs stewardship rather than complete control at all times.

It bothers me that people say, 'we just want to find a decent way of farming more environmentally' but as soon as you say, well, we could try limiting the demand for meat and returning some of the land to nature, everyone just closes their ears. I'm also in favour of sustainable farming but insisting that livestock are centre stage all the time is not helpful. Finding other more sustainable sources of protein has to be a priority.

i'm fairly sure you could say that about a great number of foodstuffs so your claim (for which i'd like to see your source) doesn't i think have quite the impact you'd like it to.

bread: the foodstuff that more meat eaters than veggies eat
onions: the foodstuff that more meat eaters than veggies eat
soy beans: the food stuff that more meat eaters than veggies eat
etc

but a good go at a blistering argument - try harder in future tho.
