Anti-Cuts Protest Hackney Council 6pm 2nd March

Us Hackney residents have to come good with this if we want to hold our heads up next to the commotion caused at Lewisham, Camden and Barnet town halls recently!

best thing about hackney town hall is that you can climb up the outside onto the balcony.

Labour Councillor Luke Akehurst going mentalist on twitter

Trots have voted to let us back in to chamber. Very kind of them. Who elected them?

Mare Street shut. Err.. Try shutting Downing St you Trot chumps not protesting vs one of most progressive councils in most deprived borough

In secret replica council chamber with less noisy members of public. SWP haven't managed to stop democracy.

Idiots in balcony chanting nursery rhymes not listening to debate

No hot drinks in council chamber in case thrown at us by rioters

Getting a little over excited heckling back at the balcony - just shouted "Blairite and proud of it

Complaints from public gallery about #hackney councillors using Twitter in #cuts meeting

in fact, labour councillors should stay the hell off twitter. they invariably only use it to humiliate themselves.

Luke "nuke" akehurst is notorious for getting over excited and ranty. Another career new labour boy who hates the left.

It was his birthday today, lol.

I had to leave before the (cringe) symbolic march around the town hall so missed the action.

About 300 people?

Lots of good reporting on twitter. #hackney

luke akehurst is a cunt who hasn't had a proper job in his life.

Nevertheless Luke Akehurst was Consultant of the Year according to Public Affairs News, trade magazine for the PR industry.

One mentioned clients is GKN the arms/engineering/aerospace firm which sells military aircraft all around the world. It was the company at the heart of the 1999 mini-scandal of sales of "kill 'n gos" to the Indonesian military used to mow down Indonesian opposition and Timorese children alike.

Another mentioned client is Italian company Finmeccanica which has recently been kitting out the Gaddafi regime with helicopters and a border security system.

Bizarrely (or not) his co-director (manager) at Weber Shandwick is Tamora Langley, a prominent South London Lib Dem who was Lib Dem MP candidate for Lewisham!

I particularly liked this bit:

I am pleased to report that a much heralded across the far left press backbench rebellion didn't happen and every Labour councillor showed discipline and solidarity by backing the budget we had collectively agreed at Group.

Barry must be so proud.

Cheers - Louis MacNeice

aye - absorbed into the Labour Borg
