Well, he may have been driving with a local on one of the motorways with average speed cameras. If so, you can see how he came to that conclusion.
Yeah, guess so. I'm not sure how he does it but I have a mate who drives me places sometimes and he rarely does less than about 95 except where he knows he can't, and he's never been done. Seems to have a detailed cognitive map of every speed trap in the UK.

If you drive attentively (as you should), then normal speed cameras, as well as police cars, are easily seen, normally. If you don't notice these things, then that's a bit of a worry.

Average speed cameras are different. (Note to drivers who break when they approach average speed cameras: you may be misunderstanding what "average " means ).
