Lost in the wood
Last night we had to banish Vic from the bedroom as we caught him getting jiggy with Mrs SFM's dressing gown and yelping in a most alarming manner. Dirty wee deviant!
Not fussy, is he? Dressing gowns are probably the least sexy garment ever!Last night we had to banish Vic from the bedroom as we caught him getting jiggy with Mrs SFM's dressing gown and yelping in a most alarming manner. Dirty wee deviant!
It's quite a nice one - sort of a Scandinavian design in blue and white - but you're right, it doesn't do much for me!Not fussy, is he? Dressing gowns are probably the least sexy garment ever!
Jocky does this weird sexual thing with my fluffy couch blankie. Bites it, kneads it, then makes a shagging motion with his bum. Really unsettling, especially when I'm trying to win Uni Challenge.Last night we had to banish Vic from the bedroom as we caught him getting jiggy with Mrs SFM's dressing gown and yelping in a most alarming manner. That’s the same behaviour. Thing is, he’s spayed so this really shouldn’t happen. As I’ve probably said before, it’s just as well there’s no (ahem) “issue” at the end of it o all or we’d probably have to burn the furniture.Jocky does this weird sexual thing with my fluffy couch blankie. It baffles me, I've had 3 neutered boys including Jakey who used to be a stud so was purposefully put with females for the purpose of shagging - before he was neutered and came to live with me - and I have never witnessed any of them attempt to shag random items since neutering (Radar used to have a go with a vibrating soft toy cow before he was neutered, but who wouldn't? Not after his visit from the ball-fairy though). That’s the same behaviour. Thing is, he’s spayed so this really shouldn’t happen. I put it down to his dad being a feral rapist. Lil’ Bob has none of these traits and just looks at his brother with puzzlement when he gets like thatIt baffles me, I've had 3 neutered boys including Jakey who used to be a stud so was purposefully put with females for the purpose of shagging - before he was neutered and came to live with me - and I have never witnessed any of them attempt to shag random items since neutering (Radar used to have a go with a vibrating soft toy cow before he was neutered, but who wouldn't? I don’t want to damn Vic too much but, while they have a common mother, I can only put the difference down to the sperm donor. It gives me no pleasure but I think Vic’s father was a bit of a shit - to put it mildly.I put it down to his dad being a feral rapist. Even if Vic and Bob have the same dad, it's more about purrsonality.I don’t want to damn Vic too much but, while they have a common mother, I can only put the difference down to the sperm donor. It gives me no pleasure but I think Vic’s father was a bit of a shit - to put it mildly.
I suppose, not being privy to the other cats in the litter, I’m making an unjust judgement? Perhaps Bob’s dad is responsible for his more agreeable and thoughtful personality? You’re right - I’m being unfairEven if Vic and Bob have the same dad, it's more about purrsonality.
Crossing everything for a positive outcomePoor wee love Jakey is bleeding from his bum today, probably due to the chronic constipation caused by his CKD.
Going to try to get a vet appointment tomorrow for a clinical evaluation of his state and whether there's anything we can do about this latest thing, or whether it's time for him.
He's still alert and chatty and eating, a bit frail and doddery but still stood up on his hind legs earlier all excited when I was bringing him his food and waahed at me doing little pirouettes when he wanted his hot water bottle and blanket after his tea and fluids, which makes it really difficult to make any irreversible decisions, because he's still so present and engages with us very willingly and happily. If he was unhappy and withdrawn it would be easier, but despite his physical frailty, his behaviour is still very much in your face give me attention, give me food, give me cuddles as it always has been, and a sore bum hasn't changed that.
I thought when I first got up from my nap that it was a UTI flareup due to blood on his blanket and incontinence mat and phoned the vet to request antibiotics to pick up tomorrow, but after a bit of observation it became clear it wasn't that after all, but too late to get an appointment today (early closing on Thursday at our vets).
He still seems pretty lively all things considered. He's always been a joyful creature. We'll see what the vet says when we manage to get an appointment.
Poor lad! He sounds like he's still enjoying life though, so hopefully it's not his time just yet.Poor wee love Jakey is bleeding from his bum today, probably due to the chronic constipation caused by his CKD.

Yup, our Jocks lost his bollocks before we adopted him. And indeedThat’s the same behaviour. Thing is, he’s spayed so this really shouldn’t happen. As I’ve probably said before, it’s just as well there’s no (ahem) “issue” at the end of it o all or we’d probably have to burn the furniture.

Poor little lad Epona . Very glad he still seems chirpy though x
I reckon Kizzy’s colouring makes her very hard to photograph. Some lovely recent pics though
It's such a horrible decision to have to make and there's no easy answer. This is what makes it so difficult, because physically he is failing and getting more and more frail and having more things (not deemed to be horribly painful or untreatable/unmanageable by the vet, so far at least) go wrong bit by bit.
But his heart still seems to be in it, he's still actively going "love me, love me, feed me, feed me" like he always has done.
It was different with the others which made the decision easy if that makes sense.
I think if I end up having him put down when he still wants to go home and have his tea and a cuddle because of some stupid side-complication, rather than him getting to the point that he is tired and ready to go, it's going to be devastating.
Sorry you and Darcey had to go through that, it must have been distressing to watch and just as much making the decision. It's such a horrible decision to have to make and there's no easy answer.
A couple of years ago I lost my cat Darcey who had CKD but she also has skin cancer on her ears as she was pure white. The vet was unable to operate on the ears because of the CKD and I always thought the kidney disease would get her first but her ears were deteriorating rapidly and every time she scratched the scabs off they would bleed badly. I ended up having to let her go sooner than I wanted to as she was still eating but the cancer was literally eating her ears away and causing her distress.
Very regal lookingThis was my lovely Darcey before the CKD and skin cancer struck.View attachment 454658
Oh no, that happening suddenly does sound like it could be medical or a reaction to the medication he's on.Sorry to sidetrack, but Jocky's attacked me 3 times tonight, completely out of the blue. Think it's the Atopica. He is NEVER like this. He's done love bites before, but this was full on aggression and it scared me. I've come to bed cos can't relax watching TV. Gonna ring vet tomorrow.
