Your daily cat and kitten news

Catching up with the cat thread - "Ooh, sojourner's posted, let's hope he's had a shit!!!"

So relieved for him and you.
 I am obsessed with his motions :D It's just that, up to now, he's never had a spot of medical bother, and suddenly he's licked his leg fur off, then he's on steroids, then piriton, then he's on lactulose and laxapet, now I'm having to change his bloody diet to work around the medical stuff!! Gone from nowt to loads in a just a few weeks!

Anyway thank you. Relief all round :D

Any joy yet? I am still giving Jocky half a piriton twice daily, hoping it gets into his system (and actually works!) before the steroids run out.
Tbh it's not making much difference...she's a bit less itchy but it least doesn't seem to be getting worse...

Apparently it only works on a small percentage of cats. Their allergies aren't caused in the same way as ours, with the release of histamines.

Can you not get her treated with the PDSA, given your financial situation? Check if you're eligible
yes that occured to me this morning....went over her gently with the cat comb and it is actually a bit better so keeping fingers crossed

Paddy doesn't say hello, from the top of a duvet cover that is at least twice as old as him.

Had him at the vets' this afternoon. We've changed vets yet again and I'm glad we did, as the last time he went to the old one, in July, he should have had a blood test. Instead we just got a veterinary nurse taking his blood pressure and that was it. According to the new vet, he should be having blood tests every six months (he has chronic kidney disease). Fortunately the last test done by new vet showed he was doing OK, but that could easily not have been the case.

My OH had a text from the old vet to bring him in for 'diagnostics' then when we got there, they didn't have a clue what he'd come in for! I had to explain that he had early stage CKD that needs monitoring. So glad we changed as the new vets' is better, although still one of the big chains.

I want to renegotiate the contract between me and Cat.

He gets food, clean water, warm place to nap, I get insufficient pets and cuddles. I want to stroke him all the way down his body and his tail, I want him to settle beside me and accept my hand on his fur, I would like to fiddle with his toes while he sleeps. All of this is verboten. Instead, I present the tip of my finger, which he will sniff in elaborate detail and then either turn away from in disdain, or to which he will imperiously offer the side of his neck for specific types of touching, and if I don’t get it just right right away, all permissions are withdrawn.

It's true what they say that dogs have owners but cats have servants.
