Well, she tolerated me stroking her as she sat on my sister's bed. She didn't like me taking my phone out for a photo, so retreated to under a desk.

At that point you might want to get one of those sisal corner protector thinggies (technical term). I wouldn't normally suggest one since it seems to reinforce the idea it's OK to scratch there but since that horse has bolted and your cat seems reluctant to be re-directed mybe it's time to go with the flow and accept you lost that war.

This is the trouble - Lil’ Bob will have brought it in to study/play with it but seems to lack the ability to despatch it. His brother has no such moral dilemmas.

ETA Both of them are holed up in the kitchen staring at the washing machine. May as well leave it to Laurel & Hardy

Update - mouse appears to have left. Very likely under the floorboards and out of the air brick. Vic feeling superior - Lil’ Bob a little muted but I’m sure their respective feelings will get back to normal

Yup - They have been into my shed and consumed most of two large boxes of grass seed over the winter..!

Might it be pregnant? The other one is noticeably sleeker.

One thing, last night, I was pottering in the garage and on my way back into the kitchen, I looked-up to see a cat I've not seen before, intently watching the spot at the side of the shed where I've seen the rat coming from and running back to, so I suppose that's where its nest is? Maybe its days are numbered.

A lovely looking cat too - All grey with a sharply defined white triangle across its face. Quite large, possibly a youngish tom. It scooted-off but I'll be trying to encourage it to claim this territory for now.

Jakey seems to be having trouble weeing today, yesterday he weed in a couple of odd places but I wasn't terribly worried about that (well mild concern perhaps) because he has always had a tendency to wee in odd places.
But I just saw him squatting on N's sofa and it was only drips coming out
Just had a call back from the vet and have an appointment in an hour

I mean his kidneys are knackered anyway and he's on ACE inhibitors for that, now they can cause susceptibility to UTIs so I'm kind of hoping it's something that can be treated with antibiotics rather than a more complicated blockage
