Your daily cat and kitten news

Lil’ Bob has just come in from the garden and has been chuntering away to us - it’s so varied and expressive and we’d love to know what he’s saying. A commentary on what’s been going on? We love it but wish we could translate 🙂

Anyway, can jumping on your lap and purring any opportunity they get be a sign of feeling unwell and wanting comfort, or is it just a sign of growing older? Trillian has a little nodule which is probably nothing but could be a sign of a hyperactive thyroid. It’s hard to tell if she’s more hungry as she’s always been a greedy guts. She might have lost weight but I’m trying to hold out another month before a re-weighing at the vets to give a clearer picture. One of my childhood cats had an overactive thyroid and I mainly remember the constant meowing.

dunno really

it may depend on the cat. traditional wisdom is that cats are more likely to hide if they are feeling unwell, but not every cat has read the instruction book...

hope she is ok

Cats feeling unwell tend to be less, rather than more sociable.

If you can feel a nodule I would take her to the vet sooner rather than later.

It kind of reminds me of how my kids cuddle up to me when they’re unwell. Her sister was very cuddly too when she was ill. I don’t think she’s anywhere near death’s door though, thankfully. Just less active and more sleepy.

Yeah she’s already been checked out, and the vet said it’s probably just a benign lump but there’s a small chance it could be a thyroid thing. I’ve got to take her back in about a month to be reweighed.
Agent Sparrow my old lady cat became super cuddly and lap-sitting in her twilight years. I think it was probably because she had achy old bones and I performed a sort of heat pad role :D The minute I sat down, she'd sit on me and demand fusses.

Only me though
Aw, I quite like the idea of being a hot water bottle for her creaky joints. 😍

She still looks pretty good, in some ways better since we changed her flea treatment and finally got them completely under control. :)
