Your daily cat and kitten news

dunno.

i've been told that making a noise like a cat in pain is about the best way of letting it be known that kitty has gone too far with teeth / claws. they sometimes don't realise that we don't have a coating of thick fur.
Which is great fun when they're padding your legs , or your bare chest in bed

Sir does not like the new kibble, I have mixed the new kibble with a packet or a different kibble. Sir ate some of the mix in his excitement at fresh kibble but must have eaten a piece of the wrong kibble in between two pieces of the good kibble and has told me off by starring in the bowl staring at me and chirping, rinse and repeat before abandoning the bowl in utter disgust.

I may have to pour out the mix and sort it if I don't want to end up with 2 bags of uneaten kibble.

He is the fussiest cat I have ever had (and the least food motivated one too)

Prodigal Monty.

We were called by a vet several miles away to tell us that he had been living on a farm ten miles away from us. His new owners were devastated to discover he belonged to someone else. We decided that if he chose them, that was fair enough and they were delighted. We cancelled the insurance and they registered his chip with his new humans.

He keeps turning up here, though. A 20 mile round trip.

Monty (or whatever his name now is) you terrible cunt.

I wonder how many other homes he has between you and the farm

Cat brought me a mouse last night. While I was asleep. The mouse was still alive. All three of us had a wild time of it when I jumped up, Mouse jumped down, Cat chased mouse, I chased Cat, Cat caught Mouse and ran to the front door and I let them out.

A little later, Cat came back to bed all purring and proud and settled down to sleep. I really hope he washed his hands and face before he came to bed.

pleased to say that when i lived with mogs, there was often a dead mouse (or part/s thereof) on the kitchen floor of a morning, but i never got brought 'breakfast in bed'...

I completely understand this, I don't honestly think Jakey is up to the hunt any more, but he was a couple of years ago but as he'd had most of his teeth removed he couldn't really do a lot with them when he caught them - except proudly present them to me by dropping them still alive on my lap for me to finish off

Jocky has taken to giving me 'love bites', which I am very much NOT in favour of. They are very gentle, obv, no skin broken, but I'm afraid to say he caught me unawares last night and I did shout at him. I have a ridiculous startle response at the best of times, due to past trauma, and which I don't seem to be able to calm. I've read some info though, and will keep his kicker toy by my side with which to distract him next time, and hope to fuck I don't jump 6 feet into the air screaming again.

I'm sure he'll be OK, I'd love to say I was some sort of saint who'd never shouted when an animal took me unawares with something painful, but if I did I'd be lying.
I mean I don't make a habit of it but in 18 years of cat co-habitation, there has been the occasional moment. Not something to be proud of or suggest as appropriate behaviour correction, but just understanding that occasionally there might be a raised voice when you're suddenly surprised and they do usually forgive you.

Thank you. This actually put a smile on my face. Much needed at the moment.
