Your daily cat and kitten news

So I phoned the vet this evening because I hadn't heard back from them, apparently they'd sent a "medication ready for collection" message to N in the middle of the day but he didn't see it right away because he works nights and was asleep, and then either didn't think to check his phone when he woke up, or saw the message and forgot to tell me cos ADHD - but apparently there are 7 pills waiting to be collected at the vet so I'll pop up there tomorrow.

If they try to charge me their quite frankly verging on criminal markup rate for the pills, there will be a firm and frank discussion about it when I get there. This is their fuckup, not mine, and I shouldn't be left out of pocket as a result.

I really hope the meds are there when you go for them Epona.

Sorry you've had this happen and the reaulting stress.

((((Epona))))

Honestly yeah I will relax once I have the pills from the vet in my hand, and the ones from PDO are delivered - there is still plenty of time for another fuckup so I'm not going to view it as over until I have all his medication :D

I hate having to do phone calls due to auditory processing disorder, so today has been incredibly stressful as I've had to make a few calls to get this sorted (at least I hope it is sorted!). Thank you for your good wishes :)

Loved because you have the pills..
And I get the hating phone calls.

I mean if your cat needs to go the vet and you can afford it take them to the vet. If you can't afford it they will recover or die.

Not much to it.
FFS, don't be a prick all your life. Try taking a fucking day off just occasionally. You're not being helpful, you're just kicking someone who's already down.

Epona , sorry you're dealing not only with incompetence from your vet and the resulting worry, but also cuntish remarks like this one. I hope the situation gets resolved.

This is Shadow.

His original owner buggered off and left him, he then got taken in by a neighbour, but expelled for pissing.

His next home was diagonally opposite us, but he wasn't being fed, so he came to us and we fed him. He learned how to use the cat door, so we gave him a blanket on a chair in the kitchen then of course you awake and he is curled up on the end of the bed. He's been with us about four months now, and he shows no sign of wanting to leave. :)

He was desperately thin when he came to us, he's about 50% up weight wise. An affectionate wee soul. We didn't actually want another cat.:D
They know how to find their people. 😻

Good news - I have 7 free pills from the vet as promised, so I can relax over the weekend.
Also got confirmation email from PDO that the new prescription has been approved and the order processed - that was super quick of them, awesome service there!
I don't want to count my chickens until I have those in my hand, they might yet get lost in the post - but at least they ended up with a useable prescription.
What a palaver!

Epona sorry I just dropped the Toby toes pic and ran. Didn't see all the shit you've been dealing with.
I hope you get it sorted soon. ❤️

And Humberto.... What a nasty twat you are! 🤬
No need to ever apologise for a lovely Tobytoes pic! Or any other cat for that matter.
If I'm dealing with something that I need a lot of support for and no distractions, I'd post it in a new thread - and this is fairly minor in the grand scheme of things!

Cat pictures always always welcome, this is a thread for all of us :)

Saw this meme type thing and it struck a chord. I always say goodbye to Lil’ Bob before I go to work and tell him when I’ll be home so he doesn’t worry. Please tell me I’m not alone here 🤔

Oh yes, if Lilith's there when I leave the house , I'll always kiss her bye and tell her "See you tonight sweet baby, I love you." I say goodnight to her in the same vein, much as my mum used to do with me.

Oh yes, I often say "night night" to Beauty (and those that went before her), we have now progressed to a short play / stroke session or sometimes I'll put down a couple of treats.
I'll say "back a bit later" when going out ...

Actually, same applies to Ben de-dog.
I don't know if Beauty will ever understand "back tomorrow by bedtime" as I'm not sure how bright she is ... but Ben certainly does, and Flora my black oriental shorthair certainly understood "home time" - she would walk me to the bus stop and quite often she would be waiting for me to come home that afternoon, somewhere near said bus stop. If the weather wasn't good, she would sit in the window and wait there instead.

I like singing to the two of them and punctuating the lyrics (e.g. "Hello my baby, hello my darlin', hello my ragtime cat! You're so cute and don't you know it. If you had a trumpet then you'd surely blow it, etc. ") with little meows that will occasionally get answered. This only works with acoustic guitar. If I take out the electric one, then they're both out the door. Philistines! :(

I do have full on conversations with the cat, including "cat voice" to fill in his responses.
To be perfectly honest, I'd just talk to myself anyhow if he weren't around.

Sounds reasonable, I have conversations with cats who I have seen or who have visited way after they’re not there as it were!
I will look out and say in a silly voice ‘where’s my mate Bloomy then?’, or ‘Yo Harry! What are you up to, when will you come by?’.
Utter fucking madness I know.

Not with the cats because they're dicks and even if they could understand me, they'd probably choose to ignore it. Also they're mostly outdoor/next door cats and wouldn't be waiting around for me indoors anyway. I've been trying to teach Cosmo a command to jump up on my shoulders, in the hope that he then won't jump up when he's not been invited, but I'm not sure he's noticed.

The cows know "ta-ta, see you later" in a certain tone of voice means I'm going away now, so don't bother following me over to the gate. "Hang on" works if I need them to wait a minute and not headbutt me because I've stopped brushing them or whatever. They'll come when I call but getting them to walk alongside me or in a specific direction away from me is still a work in progress. The other day I caught myself doing that wave at them, the one you do to acknowledge you've seen someone but don't want to go over and say hi
