They live 10 years if they're lucky end of.
Your important thread.
That's really annoying. We actually left a vet last year due to constant fuck-ups like this. Hope you get it sorted. The vet messed up Jakey's prescription a) by failing to send it to me promptly after I'd paid for it, I had to chase it up with them, and b) it was dated 2025 for some reason (this is not the first time this has happened either), so Pet Drugs Online have had to contact the vet to get an amended prescription which could take another 2 days, they can't dispatch Jakey's medication until that happens.
He runs out of pills (Fortekor 2.5mg) over the weekend.
I don't know what to do and am a bit stressed by it, I feel very upset and let down, I'm going to try to get the vet to give me a weeks worth of pills for fucking free because this is their fuckup, but it might take them 4 working days to get some themselves which would by the time I talk to them tomorrow mean we'd already run out as they wouldn't arrive at the vets until next week.
I'm just fucked off, why does everything I try to do get fucked up in ways that are not my doing and beyond my control?
I love the vet himself, he's excellent with cats (is a cat lover himself) and is a really good vet (apart from apparently not knowing what year it is ) and the 2 regular vet nurses are wonderful - but every time I speak to reception it's a different person as I think they put all the trainees on rotation through our surgery, and even the simplest things get ballsed up. I've ordered his special food, they forget to put the order in and when I chase it I have to go to the clinic and sort it out. 3 times out of the last 5 his prescription has been incorrect - wrong date twice, sent late twice, once I was given the wrong info by the receptionist about what frequency his appointments should be (she told me 6 months when it should be 3, so I didn't book an appointment and was then only given a prescription for 30 pills because the vet hadn't seen him, which more than doubles the cost of the pills - £21 for the prescription when 30 pills only cost £16, I usually get a scrip for 100 at a time). That's really annoying. That was pretty much exactly the issue we had - really good vets but really poor service from reception/admin. It was every time we had an appointment - insurance claims not done, prescriptions not ordered, etc, etc.I love the vet himself, he's excellent with cats (is a cat lover himself) and is a really good vet (apart from apparently not knowing what year it is ) and the 2 regular vet nurses are wonderful - but every time I speak to reception it's a different person as I think they put all the trainees on rotation through our surgery, and even the simplest things get ballsed up. I can't go anywhere else because it is part of a group who run most of the vet surgeries in this area - vet chains are currently being investigated for monopolies in certain areas and lack of competition/overcharging by whatever the monopolies commission is called these days, I don't have any choice because both of my nearby vets that I can actually get to are run by the same group. The vet himself is lovely, the corporation that runs the shindig is expensive and ballsups like this are way too frequent.
My sympathy - Hope that you & [I phoned the vet, they couldn't get through to the practice (presumably I went through to HQ), they couldn't confirm whether a prescription with the correct date had been sent through to Pet Drugs Online, I have been told they will call me back later.
Whether that happens is yet to be seen.
I know I am potentially on dodgy ground here as it is a prescription med, but if anyone else has a stash of Fortekor palatable 2.5mg tablets for cats and dogs and could spare 7 pills (which I would replace once my own supply comes through next week), I would be eternally grateful. My cat has a prescription for this medication but the vet surgery have fucked up his prescription by putting the wrong date on it, causing a delay (when it had already been delayed due to them not emailing it to me promptly when I had paid the prescription charge - I requested it on the 5th Feb and it's now the fucking 14th forfucksake).
It's my Jakey, sadly Radar is long gone now!My sympathy - Hope that you & Radar get sorted asap.
Sadly, you seem to have been receiving a less than stellar performance from the admin side. Not sure what to suggest, other than complain to the vet himself and hope that next time they get their act together.
Opps, I wasn't checking properly, my apologies. Too much blood in the coffeestream. It's my Jakey, sadly Radar is long gone now!
I know what you meant though (I certainly don't expect anyone to keep track of my cats ), and thank you.
I was quite assertive and calm on the phone and told them that what I expected was for them to get me a weeks worth of pills urgently without additional charge, since this was their messup (and yes I said that rather than swearing, which was difficult!) and not mine.
Yeah seriously don't worry about it, I'm faceblind and have trouble with peoples' names and remembering stuff about them - it's no big deal and your good wishes were appreciated, I know what you meant and who you meant them for, no worriesOpps, I wasn't checking properly, my apologies. Too much blood in the coffeestream.
I often have trouble with remembering names of people & pets, even ones I've known for years.
Really? Feral/wild cats perhaps. All the cats I’ve lived with and of my acquaintance (who haven’t met with unfortunate accidents) over the last 50 odd years have lived to nearly 20 on average. They live 10 years if they're lucky end of.
Our kitchen floor is currently in a similar state
You thick twat. What's your motive for posting up such misinformation? To hurt people? They live 10 years if they're lucky end of.
The average lifespan of a cat overall in the UK is 14 years, according to a study carried out by the Royal Veterinary College. The study, which looked at the deaths of 4009 randomly-selected deceased cats in 2015, found that crossbreed cats had an average life expectancy of 14 while purebred cats had a lifespan of 12.5 years. However, this is only an average age – some cats can live past 20.
I've tried to be kind to them of late, but having a go at me about my cat was over the line for me.One of mine went at 14 with breast cancer, and the other lasted until 19. I think Humberto has a bit of a drink problem - they've shitposted on other threads too, in the last few weeks.
Really hope you get sorted Epona , what a worry for you x
